I am currently in phenibut w/d and trying to get rid of this monkey on my back right now. I was taking as much as 4-6 grams a day feeling like a superhero or a king for about two months. and previously for about a year less frequently.

I took 1.5 grams 5 days ago and waited about 66 hours which was almost torture and psychosis. I then took 1 gram and waited about 36 hours to take about 1.2 grams,(first .8 then2 hours later .4)

can anyone suggest where I go from here? I can't take anymore w/d symptoms I have to function and take care of responsibilities.People compare this to w/d from benzos or maybe worse. I w/d from tramadol much easier than this. I want to do a more comfortable taper. Any taper suggestions?

I Would like to hear from some other former or current phenibuttheads who are having trouble with this evil foul tasting monkey :!

Phenibut withdrawal can be pretty serious, you may want to consider checking into a detox center and undergoing a phenobarbital taper if you are serious about quitting for good.

I am serious about quitting for good but I have too many responsibilities at home and can't leave for extended periods. I'm down to .5 gr every other day now, but still feel like crap most of the time.

As Roger&Me mentioned, you will want to be careful with phenibut (i.e. GABAergic) withdrawal. So, the bad news is that even if you are motivated enough to cut the dose drastically- you shouldn't. But, on the plus side, if you are very serious about quitting, then maintaining a taper can be easier than you may think.

I can't comment as to a knowing a specific taper schedule effective for phenibut, but my feeling is that, if you at the minimum comfortable (or close to it) dose, then reduce by ~0.1 grams every day/2/3 (depending on how comfortable each drop is) you should be able to substantially mitigate any discomfort. Once the dose starts getting low, it would also be OK to reduce each step down to make the drops more proportional. So, if you are able to maintain at 0.5g for a while, which is a very sizable drop from the 4-6g dose, then I would change this schedule to make the drops much smaller or slower.

All in all, you may just want to set the drop amount to whatever number allows the taper to stretch out over ~1 month (or more if necessary).

Good luck, luvrespectnrg!

Edit to add that you may want to search for effective benzo taper schedules, as they would likely be the most analagous to phenibut as far as what will be effective with minimum discomfort (though you should probably avoid a really long (many months, year+) taper like may be required for long-term benzo habits unless it were absolutely necessary, which I highly doubt in this case).
