you'll be fine if you just plug the capsule.
if it's your first time you may find it a little odd, but it will feel right when you get it about 2-3 inches in. remove your finger carefully, so as to not drag it straight back out. wash your hands and enjoy the ride

an enema may be more effective (i don't believe i said - or even implied - that it's not) but he'll be fine if he plugs the capsule.
hospitals all over the world use rectal administration of drugs in gelatin capsules all day every day. it's a convenient (much moreso than a syringe) mechanism and it's perfectly effective.
also, if you're doing this out at an event, carrying, loading and plugging with a liquid solution in a syringe is near impossible without getting caught.
i've lost count of the number of times i've done this so i am speaking directly from personal experience. how many times have you done it?

Your butt is not made to dissolve things.
An enema will hit you faster, be more effective and will irritate the lining of your rectum less. A suppository is not full of crystals, they are made to dissolve up there.
Why even bother plugging if your not going to get the fast onset associated with it?

It CAN absorb things through the lining, but it is not made too. There is not much moisture up there, some, but not a lot. Putting it in a liquid solution will speed the process up.

it definitely comes on faster (than orally) and it often felt stronger which is likely given that rectal administration bypasses first-pass metabolism leading to increased bio-availability.
an enema almost certainly would hit faster and be more effective but that's irrelevant. the op asked if it's "okay to just plug the capsule?" and the answer - confirmed by those with actual experience in this area - is yes.

^Is the effect of plugging a capsule or even a tablet drastically superior to oral consumption? Is the difference notable enough in your opinion to suggest I try this in my next roll? I have been considering this for some time now.
^ i'd say that it's worth trying - for the novelty factor alone - at least once.
i went through a period where i was doing it somewhat regularly (as a default for a while, even) but eventually went back to oral ingestion. demonstrably, the benefit of doing it in terms of faster onset, etc. did not outweigh the convenience and ease of oral ingestion.

^ Interesting. I really appreciate the input, I have considered this for some time. The pills I can get break into quarters, so I am assuming it would be wise to break them into quarters before plugging, for a faster dissolve/onset?

It would be wise to dissolve it in liquid if your going to do it at all...

I understand that but I figure if the pills I can get break into quarters, they will dissolve 4x faster regardless.
Getting a mortar/pestle or a pillcrusher, shot glass, oral syringe etc. seems like a lot more hassle than just breaking the pill into 4 pieces and shoving them in there lol

Not really dude. I can dissolve the pill, plug it and be high all within 20 minutes.
5 mins prep, 5 mins on my back, 10 minutes later I'm coming up
If you're not going to get the rush from plugging it, there's no point IMO...
