In a new city (DC) and tryna cop. Tons of homeless walking around, even coming up to me asking for 6 bucks. so I was just gonna try and pay them to show me to their source, but is this a bad idea? Don’t wanna get in a bad spot cause these guys generally seem a little tweaky, am I just being paranoid?

I'd be very cautious, carry a back up stash of cash in your sock or the tiny square on the front of your jeans. Carry pepper spray with you and try to blend. Don't mean-mug anyone and mind your own business. Get the product in hand before handing over the dough.
Try and make a regular friend in DC who has a dial a dealer abilities. That makes it much safer than cold-coping. Overall, I'd say it's a bad idea. Also, if you're going to anyways, do it during daylight hours. Best of luck!

Yeah, unfortunately we aren't going to be able to give you much advice on the best ways to source. I can see this thread turning in to that, so I'll have to close it, and just leave some general advice open.
But yeah ^^ this advice bk gave is generally good, you should trust your intuition if someone doesn't seem trustworthy, and there are definitely people out there that will rip you off. It's a lot easier to cop in Baltimore, i always just went there, I have lived in the area my entire life.
I would suggest figuring out how to operate the dark net or internet sources as opposed to street sources as it's a lot less trouble and a lot less dangerous.
