I have been on Suboxone for about 9 months and it helps me so much. It has saved my life. However I am about to lose my health insurance, which has been paying for my Suboxone. I do not have a regular job, I just make a couple hundred $ a month doing pet sitting. So I have very little money and I understand Suboxone is an expensive drug. I am wondering if there are any programs or special services to help people like me who need Suboxone but cannot afford it.

I live in Fairfax County, Virginia. I contacted the county Alcohol and Drug Services, but they say they only do Suboxon detox, not maintenence. I am really scared that I may have to go off Suboxone. I cannot over-emphasize how much my life has changed and turned for the better since being on it, and I am terrified if I go off it I will lose everything I have gained over this past year and slide back into addiction. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks to anyone who responds.

I'd like to know the same thing. But if you can't afford subs how could you afford a physical addiction. Like I know if I couldn't get *NO PRICES* 40mg opanas i couldnt be addicted

Ask your sub doctor if you can get into the assistance program. I know each doctor is only allowed ten people on it, and I'm unsure of the exact details but IIRC you still pay for the doctors visits but the prescription is covered (or at the very least, at a highly reduced price).

You can also look into getting on the Medicaid program. Another poster here said he was getting his prescription for a few dollars a month once he got on the program. I can't verify that, but I'm sure Subs are probably covered.

If neither of these are available to you see if you can be switched to subutex. I've heard it is cheaper.
