Heroin How to Get on Methadone?

With or without insurance?
without medicaid. they only take cash and medicaid. i have private insurance, but that is not accepted. i am also unemployed at the moment. My clinic gives a fee based on a sliding scale. so yea almost just a couple dollars a day. i am very lucky for that since i have to drive there too. and gas is a bitch @ 4/gal. :(

Everyone is different some love done others perfer subs - it's all down to you and your plans.

Methadone kills wd's nicely and lets say oral kills 70% craving but that's dose dependent.

Subs take some toying with they aren't as crave killing but you DO feel drug free.

I have been on both, Methadone has a junkie feeling to it, it's got the fun maybe - I used to IV alot of it (methadone amp NOT ORAL) and loved it for the rush thus killing 99% of all Heroin craving. Subs are more sensible in years to come you'd be happy you picked it I am (I HOPE I STICK TO IT) clear off hard opis, coming from someone who had £5k of thier savings here and although got a car and clothes and more most went on powdered smack. and you know what? only SOME of it I fucking enjoyed.

So yeah giving bupe a go may be worth it or maybe do a hard detox with low bupe dosing, quick taper and non-opis to cover wd get away from the scene so you cannie score on holiday and do naltrexe (wrong spelling sorry get them mixed) daily - basically it blocks opis but aint dependency building but in 1min in the morning you dose and that's it later if you crave you think dam I can't now

I know this is an old thread, but it's one I'm sure people will be searching. Like most of these folks, I'm with the "stay away from methadone" bandwagon. It's such a long acting drug, WON'T make you at all high once your tolerence (very quickly) escalates. Anyone with a short duration addiction should definitely go the suboxone route, preferably a quick taper. You don't want prolonged mild agony or delayed serious agony. That being said, I understand completely how opiate/oid addictions can hit hard and fast. A few months may seem like nothing to many, but it's certainly long enough to put you in hell. My stupid cat had a quickly escalating habit that went up to about a minimum of 400 mgs of oxy to not be sick. On a "good" day, she'd take as many as 800mgs, plus H, k-whatevers and a handful of methadone pills at the end of the night. She, at the heartbreaking plea from her loving family, checked into a month in patient treatment. After two days in sweaty, wobbly, pukey hell, she had a seizure. They gave her a ten day taper of each suboxone and seizure meds. This kitty was a pretty solid hot mess, but that fast track taper worked wonders. She was a little uncomfortable sometimes, like with a bit of a cold, insomnia, and let's not forget the ever present diarrhea. But it was doable, especially with the support of others in the same position. Even with a SHITTY therapist. She'd tried to kick before on her own and was in far to much hell to go it alone. This, however, was no problem, once past the whole seizure business. If one goes to an outpatient doc, they will likely want to keep the person on suboxone for awhile to deter future drug use. But then again, it's a question of delaying the inevitable. Everyone in this predicament should try a quick taper with sub first. It may very likely work, and methadone.. Yeah, thats a last resort when all else fails. It has saved many lives, but it's made different types of junk slaves of others.
