Stimulants How to get off of methampetamine without feeling like crap?

If you have ADD/ADHD, I would advised getting diagnosed, so you can get a prescription for dextroamphetamine, and then taper off of that. It will be easier than going cold turkey off of meth.

You could also taper with methamphetamine, or just abstain from it all together.

The key ideas are to eat well, sleep plenty, and then when you are awake, you want to get a lot of exercise. This goes for a lot of drug addictions, but it's especially true for coming off of methamphetamine.

exercise! the only problem is to find the strength. you know i saw in other forum that vitamines are a must and protin shakes with amino acid i think it was you lol?

Feeling like crap is part of coming off meth...

I think thats been established...I believe he is trying to see what will help him not feel like crap when he is coming off of it....I would advise sleep, multivitamins,food....opiates like perc or oxy will help but that could develop into another addiction in itself.

Wait it out. It takes time for your dopamine receptors to upregulate, so the depression is a part of the process. You have to feel shitty to feel good again. People can give you all the nutritional advice they want, but it's not gonna alleviate that unbearable mental feeling by much, I can tell you from experience. In about a week you'll begin to fell normal, you'll be shocked by how much better you feel. By week two you'll have your motivation back, and you'll be satisfied knowing you can actually feel happy without meth.

Low dose benzodiapines. Maybe some Diazepam short term would be helpful for you? Also magnesium, DL-Phenylalanine to restore dopamine and norepinepherine. Perhaps if you can get Rx'd Adderall or Vyvanse which are amphetamines that taper idea would work. If you can't get those I've read that Wellbutrin (Antidepressant/adhd med) was being used occasionally to treat meth/coke addiction. Good luck!

i had a script for wellbutrin that i wasn't using for my depression. i started it when i stopped smoking and it's helped me out a lot.

Interesting, I thought that when it was being scripted for just smoking it was Rx'd under the name Zyban, which is simply a lower dose of wellbutrin or Bupropion

Definitely some good info in here. I'm looking to slow down my meth use as I seem to have gotten into a sort of runaway up-spiraling of use (and I'm not yet even close to the levels I've heard of people using), sort of a proactive "ohh, shit, where am I going" sort of thing. My wake-up call was when I could literally not stay awake without another sniff of meth every hour or 2. That only lasted a day, and I was back to normal after going half a day without it. I'm just worried that I'm in a chain reaction, as I'm back to the stuff again 3 (4?) times today, but mostly for recreational reasons (it's... freakin'... great!). Problem with feeling like shit for a week is that I've, well... kinda got a job where I can't go a week feeling like shit. So this is definitely a relevant topic to me.

I read over this thread and found it VERY helpful:

Of note, magnesium is definitely on my shopping list for tomorrow's trip to the store. Evidently the reason I felt like utter shit that day was because I enjoyed my fair share of alcohol the night before, and alcohol depletes magnesium. Amphetamines also deplete magnesium. Low (no?) magnesium -> huge tolerance -> feeling like shit.*
Also, something I did the night before was take a "one a day" type generic men's multivitamin. That covers - to at least some extent - many of the vitamins in that post. Grab a multivitamin.
* - based on the laws of dynamics, as tolerance increases, the "zero point" moves down to create the "tolerance" effect - you'd need more of the stuff to get you as "lifted" as you were yesterday, but when you come back down you get shit tired because of the offset point. So as your tolerance decreases, you also stop feeling like shit without the drug. See, posts like this happen when you have a math geek on drugs, haha...

I think a good goal to start with is to reduce your usage, which is my goal. It'll be damn hard to just quit the shit, if you can't even stay awake during the day. Well, unless of course you have the freedom to stay home all week, in which case just follow those guidelines and you might be able to just stop cold... from my (limited) experience that seems pretty difficult ;)

So, well, now there are two of us with the same goal. Woohoo. Man, I can't believe I'd ever be in this position today, but like they say... nobody ever starts on drugs intending to be dependent on them. :/

get 3 days worth of benzo's and take them.

or man up for 3 days and spend them being tired and lacking in motivation.

maybe its just me, but amphetamine withdrawal is less unpleasant then seasonal allergies IMO.
