Opioids How to get moved back from Vicodin to Percocet.

I have been being treated for chronic pain in my leg due to a internal fixation a plate and six screws. It has been in there for five years now but back in June I decided that it hurt really bad so I went back to the place I got the surgery and they gave me a nice 10 day supply of 5/325 mg Percocet. Now that that some time has gone on they have moved me to 5/325 generic Vicodin also known as Anexia or Norco. Although I get a hefty 180 of these a month (divided into 3 refills for 10 day scripts of 60 which is weird). I know the reason they want me on the Vicodin is because it is a schedule III instead of Percocet which is a schedule II, so they can write refills on my Vicodin. Now, I do appreciate all of the 5/325 Hydrocodone, I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions as to how I can A) either get my percocet back or B) get moved up to 7.5/325 or 10/325 Vicodin. I always hint towards it when I go to get my prescription re-newed but they always give me the stink eye and say nothing stronger. I was just wondering if there are any special words I can use in accordance with pain laws ( I am in new york) to at least get my dosage of mg upped on my Vicodin. Or should I just leave well enough alone and keep with the 5/325 Vicodin.

P.S I am eventually supposed to get surgery to remove the hardware when I "get my ducks in a row" such as insurance and getting approved for disability so I can pay my bills when I am unable to work, so another question is how can I keep my vicodin prescription for the rest of my life after the surgery. Do you think it is reasonable to ask for something stronger such as percocet for after the surgery because I can say that I am basically immune to the shitty 5/325 norcos which I basically am.

Yes just say "banana yogurt" And they will rx you oxy.

There are no magic words, I was on 5/500 hydrocodone which wasn't effective and I hated having so much apap in the formula, I was honest about it and I was moved to 10/325 hydrocodone which I take with tramadol. For the time being it works and I don't need to pressure for a different combination. If at some point I become too tolerant or the pain is too great and it takes too much hydrocodone to effectively deal with it, I'll tell them so and hopefully we'll work out something new.

Take medical records, see a pain management specialist. With your type of pain and records, just explain the situation and which meds worked better for you.

^i assume the patients current doc is all up to date with that as they're (the OP) is trying to get back onto the percs (oxy).

we're not your doctor, talk to your doctor. coaching people into scoring specific drugs from their doc goes against our guidelines as well.
