I first started taking Adderall back in January (about 4 months ago). It's now May and I think I've taken a total of about 70 10mg pills. Obviously I don't take them daily or consistently, just when I think I need them which is when I have big tests or papers. Right now is finals week so I've been taking the most I've ever taken. However, I think I must have gained a tolerance since I first took them in January.
When I first took them, I would take a quarter or even an 1/8th of a pill, so roughly around 2-2.5mg and I'd be set! Super bad cotton mouth, "zombied" out yet increased focus, NO appetite. I liked the euphoria I felt the days after it wore off so I went through them quickly. Once the semester quieted down though, I back off although I would take them occasionally to kill my appetite because I need to lose weight.
Within a couple weeks, I could take 5mg and still eat meals. So I started taking full pills so that I would lose my appetite but the cognitive effects still remained the same (still very focused and able to stay awake). A month or so later, 10mg wasn't enough to kill my appetite. I could still stay up all night long but I'd craving breakfast.
Now my ideal dose of Adderall is the lowest dose in which my appetite is gone. I mean GONE, as in forgetting to eat or feeling starving yet still not wanting to eat. So at this point, 10mg is really not cutting it. 15mg definitely works, but it's not great (no cotton mouth really). At 25mg my appetite is definitely gone for a couple days. I'm just really not liking that idea. I need a dose 10x higher!!! It has been 4 months, but still!!
I know Adderall really isn't the best way to lose weight because when I come off of it I probably gain back twice the weight I lose cause I want to eat everything in sight. The thing is, it is so effective at reducing my appetite. And diet pills give me really bad insomnia (which oddly I can easily fall asleep only a couple hours after adderall)... But with finals, I am stress eating like crazy not to mention I need the energy to cram for nights. How do you guys deal with increasing tolerance? I don't want to go through pills really fast as they are quite expensive... So what is the most effective way to deal with an increase in tolerance? I've read a little about magnesium supplements? My last final is Tuesday so I'll be taking quite a bit every day until then I just hate the idea of taking 2 pills to get the same effects as a 1/4 pill used to give me...
