How to clean "dirty" BHO? (pic added)

Alright guys, I live in a non-medical state (actually it is one that just passed a medical law) and do not have access to many types of wax. I generally have to grab what I can. I was able to procure some relatively cheap wax today, but it does have some visible plant matter in it (things like pistils and a small bit of leaf). Is there any way I can clean this stuff up? Is the "winterizing" process as easy as dissolving the bho in everclear, freezing it and then running it through a coffee filter and then waiting 48 hours to let the ethanol dissolve?

Anyways, this stuff is more then smokable and it smells great (very fresh) but I would prefer to clean it up before I put it into something like a vape pen.

The winterization process you described should filter out that plant matter, and would I think be pretty effective at cleaning it up in general.

For cleaning up leftover butane I've heard to put it in the oven on 170 for 15m or so. Quick and dirty purge but if it was cheap than you'll have better product at the end.
 
^^ Don't put it in the oven. Unless you know what you are doing you are probably going to significantly lower the potency.

when it's still fresh, put the tray into another tray of hot water and watch as the butane evaporates off. Washing the this product with high proof ethanol will lower the yield but also leave you with an extremely pure product. You can do the same thing with a second tray of hot water, though keep in mind it will take longer with ethanol. I have evaporated off a 12 inch long 4 inch deep baking tray filled to the brim with ethanol/oil solution in just a few hours as opposed to a couple days. Keep changing the water as it cools- I used hot water from a tap, don't do boiling water as it may damage the product.

I haven't done this in a while as I don't smoke anymore, but suffice to say I know a LOT about concentrating THC if you want to PM me and get some tips on improving your method. Do it right and you should be getting shatter every time. (yes, shatter is made with BHO)
 
Great posts so far, like I said... I have the product already. I have no vac, so I am wondering how I could purify this a bit. It was cheap enough that I can kinda play around with it. About 4 grams of material. Like I said, smells great. I haven't dabbed it on the Ti yet, as I have other material (without the plant matter).

It might be more hassle than it's worth for such a small amount man. You're going to lose a lot of the product if you try and purify it, and while what you have there may not be "pretty" I'm sure it will get you blasted all the same. If you had an ounce I'd take the time to write out how I would purify it if it was mine, but I'm lazy and don't really think its worth it considering you will lose a lot of product and only have a tiny bit to start out with anyway.

Hey at least I'm being honest. Go get stoned bro, it'll get the job done. ;)


If it's the plant matter you care about, tweezers are your friend.

Thanks for your honesty! That is 4 gs right there. I actually did end up dabbing this stuff on a Ti nail and it worked out just fine. Haven't tried it in a pen yet as I have cleaner product.

Anyways, I am going to look into bho tech now. I think it might be better for a friend and I to blast our own product.
 
Try quick wash iso extracting it. I do that sometimes even with storebought wax, it makes a world of difference.
