So here's the story. It shouldn't be too long. I recently went in to my doctor to ask for treatment for anxiety and depression, and he prescribed me wellbutrin 150 mmg daily. I have taken it as directed for almost the whole 30 days now and have seen no help from it whatsoever. The depression is almost manageable(same), but the anxiety is pretty awful still and probably making the depression worse. I struggle with simple social situations, I stutter, and I pretty much just end up sleeping through class to cope with the stress. After recently getting in a car accident, i also find it extremely nerve wracking driving. I never drive on highways unless there is no other way, and I've even played sick so I didn't have to drive to school in the morning. The other day I was having a panic attack, and one of my friends suggested I try xanax, since that is what he takes and it "works wonders" for him... how can I get my doctor to prescribe xanax without just trying to raise the dosage of my SSRI? I feel like anxiety causes most of my depression, so I would like to directly treat that. I promise I'm not just some druggie trying to get a fix, I just want to know how I should go about getting xanax without the doc. looking at me like I'm a drug addic.

If you have any ideas of how I should do this, letc me know. Or if you think I could even get it potentially.

be honest with your doctor. if you are as sincere with him as you were in your post, chances are he will prescribe you xanax. it's not really that hard.

even though you're legit i have to close this. we don't allow these types of thread - "what should i say to my doctor". pm me if you have any questions.
