Every dealer I've had for the past few years always packs heat, that's as hard as my scene is though. It ain't like you will get killed buying dope as everyone knows eachother so there is no reason to get violent.

My drug scene is rave-ish, and I'm in the northeastern US. I'll just put it this way: most parties I've been to have never had any shortage of people who wouldn't let a roll or two stop them from throwing some fists if somebody crossed them.
I'll say without hesitation that the rave scene of the urban northeast is decidedly 'street' in its feel, and not as soft and cuddly as the stereotype of raves might have you believe. If you don't fuck with anyone, don't give anyone the opportunity to rip you off, and always mind your own business, you should be fine. But I don't know if it's a scene I'd recommend to anyone who turns into a sappy sensitive soul, or even a good natured prankster, under the influence of their drug of choice. The same social rules apply as when you're walking in a populated downtown area of a major American city, no matter what you're on.

Even still though, the point is no stoner around here would do business with someone like you. So unless you just randomly jumped us, you wouldn't be getting any of our drugs or dead albums
.Btw, alot of my stoner friends are FAR FAR from "weak".. The skinny hippie is somewhat of an outdated stereotype.
theres almost nothing weaker than stealing drugs and destroying personal stuff....

Anyone have a clue wether or not uni cities and colleges have 'rougher' drug scenes? Currently I'm doing business with people I know from high school or 18-20ish year old dealers who have left school and are unemployed. None of them ever pack heat or even knives (it's Europe after all), but they'll call their tougher friends who will fuck you up and readily rip you off if given a reason to. Mind you the common harddrugs here are amp sulphate, GHB, coke, crack and pills. No heroin in sight.

Agreed. I've partied in Springfield Mass, NYC, NJ, and Philly. I wouldn't say any of these rave scenes are super friendly, but they're definitely not hostile either. Don't go looking for trouble and it probably won't find you.
I haven't had any trouble finding party treats right at parties in any of these places. But the selling isn't overt -- if you want something, you need to be the one asking around. No one will approach you and whisper a word. If you strike the seller as a noob, you'll probably get overcharged. (You're paying for the convenience and the lack of inside connections.)
Psytrance parties in the NE are a whole other story, when they happen at all. They're far friendlier than the electro/dnb scene, but the people strike me as more mature and down to earth than a lot of the jamband Phans.
Springfield is a rougher place than say, RI, for sure.
Of course, if you aren't known you are going to get overcharged. It's a business and you're taking a risk by selling. Most people aren't gonna try to fleece their friends, but someone they don't know? Why not?
But, yeah, if you want stuff then you gotta go and ask for it yourself. The thing is, this usually isn't a problem, since the dealers are known by the regulars and don't often change.

No roughness at all. Everyone from who I may get the stuff I use, is a very close friend of mine and would never rip me off. They don't walk around strapped, but they're sure to bring the heat when necessary, though they are very nice and friendly people. But that is the Colombian scene, ripping off, rudeness and acting tough is extremely looked down upon. Not to mention they are very picky on clientele.
As for the rave scene, the dealer is usually a young guy who is also partying besides dealing so they're usually somewhat friendly as long as you approach correctly and don't act shady :D
