Seventeen for me. I'd tried pot before but that was it. I was unprepared-- but in retrospect I think unprepared was the best way to experience it: like an infant experiencing a new world. A rather oversized, sweating, cross-eyed infant, but an innocent nonetheless.

It probably also helped that this was before use was widespread, so I wasn't tainted by the misinformation that began circulating as quickly as did its popularity--- e.g. heroin in pills, etc. But it did feel as though we were treading new psychedelic ground.

I think I’m at a great age to start as I think I’m old enough to make educated decisions, especially with the internet at my disposal but at the same time young enough to really get the most out of my nights

I was 21. I was already familiar with alcohol (since age 14), tobacco (14), cannabis (18 ), amyl nitrate / poppers (20), and opiate painkillers (19). At 21 I also first tried amphetamines, LSD, mushrooms.

Looking back now, at 33, I think it's good for me I did not discover those powerful synthetic rave drugs and psychedelics any earlier than I did (they caused me enough problems initially anyway...). Being a teenager is pretty intense at the smoothest of times, and I can only just imagine how great it must be to go through life "undrugged" and then to start dabbling on the other side of 30, or 40... the maturity reached at this stage makes the drug experience something entirely richer than it is when young... less of a rollercoaster maybe, but with more nuances. Just my 2c though. But then I did not enjoy my teenage existence all that much in the first place, and growing up fairly secluded as the country boy I was, in my early 20s at university I made up for lost time I guess... before that most of my free time with friends was spent at the village&town pub drinking beer and smoking weed in the forest.

nice poll! i was 14, at my first rave, and i had a blast and enjoyed the rave scene loads when it was still alive and well. don't get me wrong, it's still fun now, but not as much so. also, i've pretty much given up rolling and moved on to psychedelics in all forms as my preference. at a point, rolling jus got to be not as fun anymore. anyone else feel the same way??

Was 30, definitely would have started earlier but was under the impression it was like acid and did to much acid from 14-19yrs old.

Never to late but the clubs are kinda off limits.. feel to old at them
