How much Valium (Diazepam) for hangover?

So, it's been a year since I tapered off benzos, so I must of misjudged my tolerance to alcohol. I rarely drink, but usually keep drinking after I've had a few drinks.

I estimate I finished off half-2/3 of a 750ml bottle of Jack, with 2mg diazepam in the mix. How much diazepam should I eat now? I'm quite hungover, but remember most of last night. I was thinking 5mg, but maybe 7.5-10mg might be better?

I also have Xanax and Temazepam, but I like Valium more for hangovers.

Start with 7.5, and after it has come on if that isn't enough you can bump it up to 10.

Taking drugs so that taking drugs is bearable is a slippery slope, though.

honestly, i don't suggest using a benzo in your case. it could provide to get messy.

try something like promethazine, it will get rid of your sickness as it is an anti-emetic, and take paracetamol/apsirin for the headache. dirink some isotonic sports drinks and voila. no other addictive drug needed to combat a hangover! :)

if you really are insistent in taking the benzos, try 5mg of valium and DO NOT FIEND MORE! if you have the urge to take more, stop, think about what you are doing and say NO to yourself.

like said above, drugs in order to counteract the side effects of other drugs = addiction very quickly. that comes from personal experience, dabbling with amphetamines i needed to couter the overstimulation and insomnia, so began a long course of polydrug abuse. then again it could be different for you, i'm a fucking loony when it comes to drugs, when i take a benzo now (extremely rarely) i have such strong urges to redose and take some for at least a week afterwards... just isn't worth it really

god i'm such a killjoy

The answer to your question depends largely on your tolerance to benzodiazepines. A benzo naive individual can use 10 mg of diazepam, while a very tolerant individual will not even feel 10 mg of diazepam. Someone who can take 100 mg of diazepam to get a nice buzz will probably have a minor hangover from the diazepam itself, while someone more tolerant would probably not feel much of a hangover and would likely benefit from such a dose for a hangover.

Diazepam itself will cause a hangover, so you would be better off using a short-acting benzo. Diazepam hangovers aren't as bad as some other benzo hangovers (ie. nitrazepam hangovers are a lot more intense, and from what I gather, flutoprazepam also has some very intense lingering effects the next day).

seeing as his tolerance is reduced as he's been clear for a year then 5-10mg should be plenty enough to deal with the effects of a hangover. 100mg, considering OP has drunk alcohol last night will amplify any left over unprocessed alcohol in their system and could cause an overdose. he's not looking for a buzz but to clear up the alcohol induced problem.

I wasn't telling the OP to use 100 mg of diazepam. I was simply giving an example of how ones tolerance level would come into play when dealing with a hangover.

i know but sometimes information can be misleading. just wanted to make sure op doesnt over do it and fall back into a benzo addiction.

Thanks for the advice, guys! I was going to take 7.5-10mg before consulting Bluelight, btw.

I ended up taking 5mg Diazepam, along with 15mg DXM, 12.5mg Metoprolol, and some Magnesium at 10 am, and they helped so much!

5mg didn't take care of the hangover completely, it just made it a lot more bearable and took away a lot of the nausea. This is a perfect amount, I didn't want to get high by overdoing it, but I didn't want to underdose at the same time.

thats great news. always stay at low levels while you can. 5mg should be a sufficient dose to alleviate some of the symptoms of a hangover but remember that a hangover occurs due to dehydration, so drinking fluids is what will honestly relieve it properly.

Wow, I forgot how sedating Diazepam was compared to Alprazolam, and how long that sedation lingers. It's not even a good kind of sedation like with cannabis, it's more like I'm numbed and stupid. My brain basically felt slow all day today, the side effect increasing inhibition through GABA modulation I guess. I now remember why I loved life after getting off this shit a year ago, I only took it daily at prescribed dosages of 20-35mg (with Somas and Lyricas here and there) because I had to, due to immense anxiety stemming from an important court case.

After the initial chillness faded away, the active metabolites were straight kicking my ass, I've taken two 3-4 hour naps and slept like half the day away, I feel so sketchy. I'm sure the 12.5mg Metoprolol just added to that sedation. The funny thing was that the 5mg wasn't even enough in the morning, I still felt intense benzo PAWS rebound from the alcohol hangover (I woke up shaking and twitching in the morning), so I was thinking, "damn it, I should have taken more." Good thing I didn't, though, as the hangover went away in the late afternoon, and I have shit to do without feeling all groggy lol.

And yeah, I drank plenty of water and ate several meals, they helped a lot. Fuck, I hate alcohol, this is why I don't drink.
