How much time should be left between an Effexor dose and an ecstasy one?

I take an extremely small dose of effexor (37.5mg), though receive quality anti-depressive effects from it. I also receive little withdrawal from going off of it.

I would like to take a single dose of MDMA for an event coming up. Is one day of abstinence from the Effexor enough to ward off any serotonin syndrome or other danger?

If you've been taking it for a long time you probably have to wait around 4-7 days. I don't think there is any danger of serotonin syndrome but you won't feel any effects from MDMA.

Methylone/bk-MDMA might work since it has little effect on serotonin compared to other MDxx drugs. It's pretty easy to get online if it's legal in your country.

wait a few weeks/ months and then try 100mg of mdma and you will never go back to the shit rc's, iv beeen there man, mdma is the purest nicest chem you will come across, bollocks to this rip off mdma.

Effexor and MDMA

alright guys so quick question,
i know you cant roll (do ecstasy) when your on an SSRI, and i just started Effexor (SNRI) 37.5mg XR on tuesday,
Effexor is mainly a Norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor and a weak SSRI from what ive read, and 37.5mg is the weakest dose. so if i wanted to roll tomorrow, do you think i could?
because im under the impression that the drug hasnt built up enough in my system to entirely prevent me from rolling. i havent even felt a mood change from the Effexor.

thank you in advance:) and Effexor is a fairly new antidepressant, so there isnt much info on it, and the majority of threads about antidepressants and mdma involve only SSRI's.

Moved this post to ED as we don't really allow Ecstasy Discussion in the BDD social thread though.

Please feel free to come back and socialise with use regarding other matters though :)

Its generally a bad idea to take MDMA while youre on any medication that alters your brain chemistry, especially anti-depressants. I would highly advise against it tbh. Anti-depressants can take up to 6 weeks for you to feel any different and that is the way they work. How recently were you put on Effexor?

Effexor and MDMA threads found through The Directory. You might want to check them out.

You're correct, Effexor does not have a high affinity for serotonin, especially at that dose. Chances are since you just started Tuesday, I would guess that you would still roll, but you may still have reduced effect. Even though MDMA is targeted towards serotonin it causes releases and effects on Dopa and Nor as well, so I still would predict a different experience.

That all said and done, your body is currently trying to adjust to the newly added Effexor. I'm unsure what the consequences of rolling at the beginning of starting it will do.

I know someone who was on Effexor, at a higher dose, for much longer, whom took a good 140mg of high quality molly and did not really roll. They claimed they felt relaxed and peaceful, but I wonder how much was placebo; their eyes were not even dilated throughout the whole experience. They did, however, have an imbalance of mood and emotional stability the week following.

I'm guessing you're probably going to do it one way or another, it may be the last time you can while using Effexor, and for a period afterwards. I would caution against it though.

IMHO anyone who is prescribed SSRI/SNRI/SDRI medication should probably steer away from these types of drugs, chances are it will just disrupt the balance even more. I'm guessing the onset of your Effexor's beneficial effects may be altered and stepped back by doing so.

thanks :) if i remember correctly, it has a really short half life so i think i should be fine.
its just that i plan on being on Effexor for a few years, so i wanted to get one last roll in before it was too late.

That's what I was thinking too. Pretty sure it has a short half life, so you should be able to roll. Be careful when stopping your medication. You aren't that far along but it's not good to stop medication your doctor put you on (unsafe!). If you really want to do it, nothing anyone says will probably be meaningful (unless its OMG YOU'LL DIE), so do what your heart tells you.

Rolling one more time is just going to downregulate your SERT and then you are going to continue downregulate them on the medications. Just saying.. If you have problems with depression, give the MDMA up for good. You do not want to hurt your brain anymore...

the depression isnt due to a chemical imbalance imo, but more the environment at home. (abusive family blahblah) both of my psychologists think that too.

alright ive gotten my replys, im gonna go ahead with it.
i skipped my Effexor this morning,

mods, close this if you want, theres really no point to it anymore,
unless you want me to edit the thread later tonight letting people know if i rolled or not:\

anyways thanks for the responses guys, plur.

I rolled on ecstasy (mdma) after breaking from effexor (venlafaxine) for 4 days and I felt a strong affect - it was fantastic.

I used to roll before ever taking effexor; the affect was probably stronger then. I also tried rolling after breaking from effexor for only 3 days; the affect was mild.

After 2 days of breaking from effexor, I begin to feel withdrawal symptons and take a benzodiazepine (usually klonopin) for a day or two to alleviate the withdrawal symptoms.

After 4 days of breaking from effexor, there's only about 1mg of the medication left in my body due to effexor's very short half-life (i.e. less than 12 hours). I've been taking 150mg of effexor daily for 2 years. I'm male, 29 years old, and 170 lbs. Naturally, you might metabolize effexor faster or slower than I do depending on your body and metabolism.
