how much dxm can i take to not overdose?

you shouldve got robotussin dry cough forte, your one contains pseudoephedrine and dxm which you shouldn't really combine at all if you want to be safe.

Absolutely, straight DXM and no shitty taste. I started using syrup(and was one of those weirdos that always loved the taste of it as a kid) but it seemed to taste worse every time I did it, the masking flavorings became less effective and the shitty medicinal taste would get more and more pronounced. Eventually my whole body would shudder in disgust as I chugged it... gelcaps solved that problem nicely.
