How much does heat damage DMT?

Hello all,

I found a note on the street that read:

I used TFSE but wasn't able to find an answer to my question. I just acquired 200mg of DMT and thought it looked a little clumpy and possibly moist. I decided to set it an inch or two under a 40-watt bulb for 5 to 10 minutes. After doing this, the stuff looked a little darker and gave off a smell. I'm wondering if this could have reduced the potency of the DMT.

After this I put it in an airtight snuff container, in a plastic bag, in a jar, in the refrigerator. Also the airtight snuff container is made of aluminum or something similar, is this a problem?

Thanks.

Anybody know what to make of this?

What smell are you talking about? If it was plastic-like then you vaporized some of the DMT. It's melting point is as low as 40°C, so at least a little bit must have vaporized when you were holding it close to the light bulb. Shouldn't be much though. Afaic aluminum shouldn't be an issue.

This reminds me, the back of the note said:

It just smelled like DMT... that plastic smell, yea. I just took it out of the fridge after it had cooled down for about an hour and it still had the smell... same smell as my pipe, just it was fairly pungent after taking it out from under the lamp.

I don't think it got hot enough to vaporize, but I'm wondering if this would affect the potency. As in, I know it would be idiotic to leave LSD under a lamp even though I doubt it would vaporize at all.

Thanks for the reply

Maybe a very slight bit. But it's quite normal for frequent visitors of hyperspace to leave melted DMT in their pipes so they'd just have to heat their pipes the next time they want to go back.

Btw, the thing I like the most about this site is that there is no SWIM-ing or equivalent allowed. So yeah.

SWIM-ing? What's that? That reminds me of something I read on a billboard!

I can see not requiring SWIM-ing, but why would it be against the rules? It seems strange to force people to incriminate themselves, especially since use of this website could be traced to my IP address. Also it seems that drug users, so accustomed to dodging rules they know not to make sense, wouldn't have a problem with my desire not to blatantly incriminate myself regardless of some strange rule. Anyway thanks much for answering my question.
