How much do a pack of cigs cost where you live?

Here in Michigan (Detroit) my brand, Newport Non-Menthol, costs about $5.60 U.S. (£3.52/€4.49).

That's a pretty average price here. Cheap cigs are like $5, the really expensive ones are like $8. The dirt cheap crap cigs like pyramids are $3.

What are the prices like where you live?
What's the price difference between cheap an expensive brands?

On a side note, for those who do snus or dip, what do you pay for that?
I pay $2.11 for a 24 gram can of General Snus.

i live in dallas and cigarettes here are average price i would say. it really just depends on the store.

the main ones like camel, marlboro, and newport are usually between $5.50 and $7.
then the shitty brands like L&M, pall mall, and pyramids are usually below $5, rarely below $4 though.
then you got the expensive cigs like virginia slims, parliament, benson & hedges, and american spirits. these are normally between $7.50 and $9

i smoke camel turkish royals. today at the kroger grocery store i paid $6.64. but i paid $6.26 at walgreens pharmacy, and i paid $7.03 at the valero gas station. sometimes the prices fluctuate extremely random. for example i got a pack of marlboro black reds for $4.64 at walmart but $6.20 at a gas station. it didn't make sense.

sometimes they have packs that have a "$1 OFF" or "$0.75 OFF" special. if they have one i like, i will try to get one of these. i've seen them on marlboro 27, marlboro 83, kamel reds, camel crush, and lots of different menthol ones as well. these tend to cost around just $5.

it sucks nowadays. back when i first started i would pay like $3.20 for some marlboro reds. i ALWAYS got a good amount of change from a $5 bill. now you almost always need a $5 and some change...they even had BUY 1 GET 1 specials back then! i would get 2 packs of marlboro smooths for less than $4!

I am in Australia and last time I purchased my chosen brand, which is Peter Stuyvesant, I paid $23.50 AUD for a packet of 26 cigarettes. Since I quit actually smoking cigarettes and only keep a pack to use the tobacco for joints, I bought a cheaper brand last time called Bond Street, I believe it cost me $16 or so for a pack of 26.

Cigarettes in Australia are taxed to a ridiculous extent, since the last price hike or two I have noticed multiple brands have changed their 25 packs to 26 packs as though the one extra cigarette makes a fucking difference when you are paying these exorbitant prices.

Holly fuck thought for a sec we were talkin American clam$!

We only do 20 cigs per pack ova herrr doe

Just checked out the conversion rate there..
16 cents difference!!!

What's minimum wage to an aussie?

I just checked our minimum wage and it is $16.87 Australian per hour.

We can get fairly large packs over here, 40 and 50 packs are pretty common. Recently I saw a supermarket selling 60 packs, but I am pretty sure that they are actually just a large pack that contains two 30 packs, I could be wrong though. Do they do ten packs of smokes in the States? We don't get them here but when I was in the UK last (2012) they seemed pretty common over there.

Yeah - our dollar was actually parity with USD for a while and now it's slightly less.

Basically - our cigarettes are REALLY fucking expensive. It's basically the same as though ciggies in the USA cost $20+ per pack. It is almost all tax - the gov keeps putting these 20-30% tax hikes on ciggies, it's fucked, a few years ago a pack was about $10.

5-10 bucks a pack but I buy loose ryo shag its way cheaper cuz sometimes I just want a skinny cig u no way I mean.

Yeah the Australian price of smokes is deliberate government policy.
It has done a lot to cut the smoking rate in the last couple of decades of steady price hikes, but fuck has it hurt working class people.

I feel sorry for Australian smokers, I've never smoked cigarettes.

$10,50 for a normal brand of 25's in Canada (dumaurier, John player etc)
I think it's about a buck cheaper for garbage brands.
I don't smoke anymore but a guy was getting some opposite me buying a slurpee and I couldn't believe the cost. When I smoked 17 yrs ago they were $4.75

making a rough conversion to dollars, they range from $2 (the cheaper national ones) to $3 (marlboros, luckys, camel) per pack with 20

In Montreal, I pay around $13,40 for a 25 pack of my beloved Rothmans Special, which is a premium brand. The cheapest brands, like the disgusting Pall Malls, full of stems as large as fucking trunks, will cost between 6 and 7 bucks a pack. Fortunately I only toke 3 cigs a day on average nowadays, and mostly use the tobacco for joints, so a pack lasts me a week or so. Still, those prices are outrageous.

50 gram pack of roll your own costs me a ridiculous $50 here in Australia

In Spain it ranges between 4€ and 5€. Marlboro is 4.80€ at the moment, Camels are 4.50€ and L&M 4.25€. Winston, which is the most popular brand over here, costs 4.40€.
However because of the recession most people have switched to RYO tobacco, which is cheapest and better. While I smoke around a pack of cigarettes every two days, one 25g pack of my RYO brand of choice (Domingo Celeste) costs 4€ and lasts me one week-two weeks. Just add the filters and the papers and the amount spent on cigs would be less than 10€/2 weeks. Much better than my ol 15€/week habit!
RYO FTW!
