How much advil can you take in a day without getting sick?

I know advil (ibuprofen) isn't a psychoactive, but it's still a drug by definition.

I have a very bad inflammatory pain somewhere (that's the most I'll say), I don't have the cash for opiates right now, so advil is the only thing that takes a little bit of the edge off. Problem is, I need 4 200mg pills to have an effect and it only lasts 4 hours.

The maximum advised amount per day is 2400mg of Ibuprofen. 800mg three times a day, or lower doses pro re nata.

If ibuprofen isn't haven't much success there are a lot of other NSAID's out there. Naproxen is quite good.
