How many people do drugs?!

to me it sounds like your growing up in a town where obviously there are dudes that drink some that smoke poke some that do other drugs. but this is everywhere more or less and depends on where you go from the in there in terms of uni/work/groups of friends.

The best advice here is that you absolutely minimise taking these things for you because your brain is still developing. The odd bit off weed ok but really keep it straight till you have completed school. then you will be a bit older and wiser about life and these things.

Seriously dude if you want to go places in this world then you'll severely regret this early drug use when you're older. At least if you do them regularly. I started drinking and smoking bud from around the age of 12 until halfway through college -in the UK that's 17/18- from 14 onwards I progressed to dxm, opiates, coke, drone (you get the picture) and it severely affected my motivation/intelligence. At your age the brain still has a lot of growing to do, any small changes to your neuro-chemistry now will have big impacts on the future you. In a few years you can go fucking crazy on the drugs without the consequences being so disastrous. You say you like to explore new states of mind, well doing a load now will severely affect your ability to enjoy them in the future. Please don't be reckless man, you only get one mind.

@mcwally & KingBlueTwista(kick-ass name by the way) you guys are right about the brain development crap. especially all the OTC shit ive been doing(diphenhydramine) its not good. but weed/incense are things that i dont think i want to give up, how bad is weed for a growing mind? i think im going to look around BL for forums about weed/developing minds. o and BTW im 15 in 2 days

Haha cheers bro%)

I would definitely quit the diphenhydramine, that shit isn't even recreational... If you have trouble sleeping try something like melatonin. Also, you said you take cough syrup? The ingredient that gets you high in that is dxm and it has been known to cause cognitive deficits in abusers, so I hate to think what it's doing to a relatively young'un like yourself.

The thing about any and every drug is that they all cause changes in the brain on a chemical level, and these fluctuations can cause lasting changes. It gets more probable the more you use/the harder the drugs.

You have no idea what I would give to be able to go back to when I was your age and warn myself.

Yes a lot of people do drugs. You're 14 so you still have a chance not to make the decisions to use most of them. There is tons of people who smoke pot but pot isn't shit. Worry more about the other 20% in the bar who only drink, as the high ones will be less likely to cause trouble. Tons of people do coke also. Drugs are everywhere so be careful and use responsibly if you so choose.

amen! you will believe that your stronger than an addiction but NOONE is stronger than an addiction! it can happen to the best of us. most all drugs are highly addictive...pot is a gateway drug, it seems too get old after awhile and you want something better and thats when the addictive stuff comes around! your young, enjoy your life. i cannot stress to your enough about how horrible drugs are...

that thumbs down isn't too you lol it was too drugs

Lots of people do drugs.....my father use to tell me every day as he was driving me to school, to make sure no one puts anything in your drink....was he paranoid? I dont think so because there are alot of sickos in this world.

My brother had something put in his drink a few years ago & he just flat out fell & wouldnt wake up. Me & his gf took care of him threw out the night until he came too.

Drugs can be a good thing but they can also create havoc in someones life. Just becareful who you hang out with & dont ever do anything you dont wanna do.

Honestly a whole shit load of people do drugs. You also have to remember many take mind altering substances for general health and well being such as anti-depressants ect. The use of drugs was pretty high back in the day and then I think the usuage slowly went down but honestly I think it's kind of peaking again especially cannabis use.

I work at a Drug and Alcohol inpatient rehab center, and yes, a lot of people use drugs, and yes, it's incredibly devastating to many users, along with all of the people affected by one single individual. The rehab center is separated by gender, so luckily I only work with the men, being one myself. The worst part of my job (one of them) is seeing family members coming in on visitation. Mothers/fathers/brothers/sisters etc walk in to sign in, and always have faces filled with mixed emotions. Usually pain and fear, mixed with a small amount of hope. And unfortunately, the success rate is right around 10%. I've been to a lot of funerals since working at this place.

I guess my point is that not only can drugs cause disappointment, but they can cause utter devastation. You're so young, I would recommend trying to stop while you're ahead. But I know when I was 14, no one could have told me anything.

Definition of drugs according to the web -
wikipedia said:
A drug, broadly speaking, is any substance that, when absorbed into the body of a living organism, alters normal bodily function.[3]

What exactly is, "normal bodily function?"
Isn't a functioning normal body, one that has recently ingested certain ingredients into it's diet so that it will function in a specific way?

So by definition a granola bar is a drug if- you're hungry, eat it, and the result is a satisfaction and lack of hunger.
You've been altered.

Always be aware of WHAT you're putting into your body, and WHY you are putting it into your body, and HOW much of it you are putting into your body.

& you should be good.

:)

Shrooms and lsd are very physically safe... But they can have a deep impact on the undeveloped mind
Tell me about it - I started tripping when I was 14 and heavily used psychedelics and mdma and its analogues (lots and lots of rc's and acid) and coming of age (18 and 6 months or so now) has been hard - maturing is definitly different for me than other people, my mind is a very odd place atm, but its rapidly going back to normal.

you guys really believe that weed has no effect on a developing brain?

It definitely stops emotional growth.... my brother started smoking weed at 15 and hes 22 and hes still 15
You know, your completely right - most people I see who have smoked for 10+ or even 20+ years are incredibly immature.

haha awesome! reminds me of when me and my friend were 14 abusing diphenhydramine and it was the best shit ever - then we went to our first music festival and took some LSD, never touched the shit again.

[EDIT]: by the way, that friend I used to use diphenhydramine, LSD, etc with is now a heroin addict. We both said we'd never do anything hard. I've done hard drugs too, though I was lucky enough to not become an addict.

I started smoking weed at 12, and drinking also, popping pills, doing coke and acid at 14, meth at 18, heroin at 18 as well, and in between I did all typesof other drugs, MDMA,shrooms, mescaline, opium, hash, opiate pills, downers, uppers(Dexedrine, etc.) and mostly alcohol was my gateway drug to harder drugs like coke and meth,etc..When I was high on weed, I would not really be down for coke or meth, but when I was drinking, whihc I did more than smoking weed, I would try any drug then. Now I'm 34 and have been in legal trouble, car wrecks ,jail, etc..all becasue I did hard drugs to excess, which when I was young, I swore and meant it at the time, that I would never do coke or meth or shoot up, and here I am at 34 and have done all that and more, and am just now in the past 4 or 5 years gotten myself semi- sober where I can work at a good job, family owned construction company, as a boss, and I see young and old workers that are on drugs , but I do not mess with them unless they hurt themselves or someone else, then we have to take them for a drug test, becasue of insurance reasons, and it sucks when a guy thats been doing construction work for 30 years and is very good at it, gets so high on meth and come to work and ends up doing somethign stupid becasue hes been awake for days, and hurts himself, or damages a machine or part of the jobsite, and they have to take him to the hospital, draw blood and urine and he gets no workers comp if hes on drugs and is fired or layed off a while, depending on what he did wrong..and he may be the sole money maker for a wife and 3 or 4 kids! He cannot draw unemployment legally if he was layed off or fired or hurt on the job under the influence I don't think..Also bad to see are the young guys right outta high school that did drugs so much they barely graduated, if they did, and they are coming to work and blowing their weeks pay in 2 or 3 days on drugs of some kind..anyway, I cannot judge people for doing things(drugs) that I did and still do sometimes.

i'll tell you that when i was 14 i said the same exact thing and now I would honestly do pretty much anything.

+1
I started off saying I would stick to weed only.
Several months later the only mainstream notches missing were crack and heroin.
I stuck to that for years, then heroin was added to my conquests.
I still refuse to smoke crack, but who knows what the future holds.

@bluetwista or whatever:Thanks im glad i found this site. alot of helpful people. and with the cough syrup thats only a twice a month at medium levels, im guessing that still isnt good though regardless of how frequently i use it
@Lovergirl!: your right about pot getting boring, prolly why i started DPH,easy to get, legal, and cheap.
@Thelostboys:wow im glad he was ok that could have ended alot worse.
@thismighthurtabit:your a good person to be working to help people like that. keep it up and hope the success rate goes up.
@Laika:amen
@yourtman:lol we have a few things in common, glad you took the right route.
@DavisK4high7247:glad you turned around, not alot of people can come back from that deep of a hole.

If we're talking about any psychoactive substances, then yes it's almost everyone.

If we're talking about consistent use of 'hard drugs,' or use of any drug that's seriously has a negative impact on your life then it's percentage is considerably lower, maybe 10-20%

If your asking about users on this board then it's considerably higher. :D

I use drugs... and I happen to be on some currently. ;)

You've been altered.

You disproved your own point. Eating is part of a "functioning normal body", the satisfaction and lack of hunger and the act of eating are petty much as "normal" as "normal bodily functioning" can be. Drugs CHANGE normal bodily functioning.
