guess im realy lucky then.
Problem is i still dont realy sleep even with the seroquels.
Seems lately its like every 3rd day i get a half assed sleep on.
I know ive said it a million times but ill take 8 mg clonazepams 60 mg temazepams 30-100mg nozinas and 400-800mg seroquels and still cant sleep regularily.
it only seems to be getting worse in say the last year...i dont know why..

Wow, your prescribed 3 benzos and Seroquel...that's a lot of sleep induction and yet you can't sleep. I wouldn't call that lucky :D

if you still aren't sleeping with that mix in your system, I'd say its time to see a specialist.
Thats next on my agenda anyway if the temezepams don't prove helpful.
I'd like to know why my brain seems inherently opposed to sedatives; Idk if its anything a sleep specialist doctor or sleep-test can diagnose, but its worth trying, otherwise I just keep filling a bag with partially empty Rx bottles of various drugs that haven't worked (Xanax, Ambien, Lunesta, Zoloft, Trazadone, Mirtazipine) so its money spent either way..

it was taken off the market due to it's potiential for abuse, dependence, and danger in overdose(esp. the last two). basicaly it was a barbiturate in disguise and had very similar risks(theraputic dose not much lower than a lethal dose, plus overdose was dangerous much like barbs). its funny that this dangerous sedative was ment to be a safer alternative to benzos.

however, it was not put in a heavily regulated schedule(placidyl is a schedule 4 controlled substance in the U.S.). also i think its still a perscription drug in many countries.

it is a powerful hypnotic, for sleep purposes its just as strong(if not a little stronger) as barbiturates. for recreational use, it feels mostly like a barb but with less euphoria and self content and more apathy and a strong desire for sleep. it makes a great drug to come down on, though.

Wait wait wait wait wait. You're telling me there's a barb like drug with unambiguously legal analogues?

Why isn't anyone on this yet? There are plenty of other RCs with crap safety profiles, and this should at least be better than those of the quinazolinones. Since barbs are out of reach for most all of us, this would certainly have a market.

Dear god. Just looked up Placidyl because something with a cutesy brand name like that has got to have something wrong with it. It's got the longest interactions list I've ever come across.

RC analogues related to placidyl would likely be boring, and certainly not better than the quinazolinones. remember placidyl isn't as fun/euphoric as stronger barbs and even some benzos.

placidyl analogues would also be dangerous and not worth it for the "high" they'd produce.

Chemically, Ambien is the best drug to take to fall asleep for me. I can't stand Dimedrol (active ingredient of Tylenol PM and over the counter sleeping pills) it makes me feel horrible for many hours, gives restless legs syndrome and lowers my mood down drastically.. I usually can't even asleep on it because it just makes me feel very weird, tired but not sleepy.
Lot of Valerian root and Melatonin used to help me. Also good Indica will knock you down.
But the best way is a drug free way. Go for a long walk before going to bed, limit caffeine and other stimulant intake. Meditation, yoga, etc.. However, 10-20 mg of Ambien and there's nothing but blackness until the morning. Never mix that with alcohol. You will end up in the ER.

I just meant that the safety profile might be better than the quinazolinones (let's remember what happened when methylmethaqualone hit the market). But yeah other than that you seem to be right, I might not have the chem/pharm knowledge to make educated guesses, but after two days of looking into it I think my efforts would probably be better directed elsewhere. Or I could just save up for one of those already proven quinazolinones...I dunno I'm just kinda fixated on the idea of an unambiguously legal RC with the recreational potential of a short acting barbiturate (safety be damned). We poor folk are just shafted when it comes to getting quality downers imo.

Anyway, to vaguely bring things back to the topic at hand, I woke up in the middle of the night (err..mid morning do to current sleeping habits) twice last night with panic attacks. Given my increasingly frequent day time anxiety I'm starting to wonder whether or not I ought to talk to a doctor or something, of course I'm uninsured and unemployed so that probably won't happen.

I wake with panic attacks. It started when I got off the benzodiazepines.

Having a few nights of trying out Temazepam, its helping around the same amount as any other benzo or z-drug I've tried.
If I take 45mg - 60mg Temazepam and 1mg klonopin, it get some ok sleep.
So its just that I'm needing to take much higher than common therapeutic dosages (except with the klonopin, though I suspect if I wanted the same effects from only taking klonopin I'd have to take 2-3mg, when my Rx is for 0.5mg 3 a day)

The big difference, as has been noted here and in the other benzo threads floating around, Temazepams feel different. I find them more relaxing then the klonopin alone.

needless to say, when I have the time in the near future I would like to talk with a sleep specialist. I'm concerned (or interested at least) in why it seems that drugs like Ambien, Lunesta, even Doxlyl amine, etc.. don't have much of an effect on me except in increased dosages. (over 20mg ambien, 6mg lunesta, double or triple dosage of doxyl amine, 60mg temezepam...)

Has anyone here been seen by a doctor who specializes in sleep medicine? Did you find it any different or any more helpful than seeing your regular doctor or psychiatrist?

I hope you are doing ok friend. I apologize for not getting your calls I was working. Bugs infested my house. I just felt bad. I like you and all your tips youve given me its been helpful. I still take temazepam and currently have none so I dunno. I hope klonopin and ativan will be enough for tonight. I need something stronger or a higher dose. Tevas never get those again. Fucking brittle inconsistant and nasty shit. Brand name next time if I don't get halcion or xanax instead. I'm trying to throw all options out but temazepam seems best.....Xanax may be better though at night who knows.

EVeryday temazepam for a week fucked my sleep up bad to where I was waking up way to soon after I had fallen asleep every 2 hours or hour. It was annoying so I stopped taking it everyday. I really like the way valium goes with ativan.

I find I've been rolling around a lot more in the wee hours of morning when taking temazepam. once I wake around 5am, I spend the next few hours in and out of sleep but constantly changing position

Hello B&O, thats alright if you can't get to the phone, thats alright. Sent you a message.

Your right about the Temazepam, it seems like brand name works significantly better than generic. I don't know if its placebo if there really is a difference. Has anybody else noticed that with other generic sleep aids? Or is it just in my head?

with me the generics work just fine... ;)

have insomnia too

I have had insomnia too for most of my life. I just had a sleep study showing my alpha wave were too active during rem sleep. So the dx is insomnia with late sleep onset. They have me on rozerem which sometimes works but not usually they also gave me sonata which doesn't work for sleep but is awfully fun recreationally. I guess I will just have to deal with it for now.

I find it strange that there are so many insomnia medications out there, be they otc or Rx, yet there are still plenty of people, see the rest of this thread, who come to the conclusion "I guess I just have to deal with it," I myself am one of them.

I've yet to come a across a drug, or combination that will help me get to sleep, stay asleep, and then not wake up not feeling groggy disoriented and or hungover.

I wonder is there just something wrong with my GABA receptors, the seem unresponsive except to an excess of normal dosage of medication, (getting black out drunk will put me to sleep, taking twice the maximum dosage of Lunesta puts me to sleep but makes me feel bad in the morning, etc..)

I've used all the ingredients in Nature Made Sleep at one point in time and most of them together. Not sure if I've used in combination with Benzos though. It'd be worth giving it a shot I guess. Its about time to renew my rx's for Benzos anyway. Maybe i'll see if the pharmacy has it.

I used to just make my own bedtime tea from bulk chamomile, lemonbalm, green tea, hibiscus, skullcap and sometimes kava and valerian

thanks for the suggestion.

The only thing I take now for sleep now that I'm off the benzodiazepines is Lyrica and it works good enough. It doesn't get me high or anything nor do I feel the effects but it works reasonably well and that's all I need I guess. Now that I'm done experimenting with different exotic benzodiazepines for sleep I'm able to sleep easier. I say "easier" and "works fine" but that doesn't mean I don't have sleep issues still. There are nights where I only get 3-4 hours but Lyrica still works better than the rest.
