how many mg's of suboxone is equal to 15mg of methadone? I was thinking about .5mg anyone got a more accurate idea though?
Not to knock your post in any way -- since I think that's probably a fair estimate at that dosage level -- but I used the calculator you linked to estimate the Suboxone doses for 100 and 200 mg of Methadone PO.15mg Methadone = 0.3mg Buprenorphinehttp://www.medcalc.com/narcotics.html
15mg is a small dose of Methadone. If your trying to prevent withdrawals I'd imagine 1mg would be plenty, possibly even 0.5mg

I got 2mg and 4mg of IV Bupe. Seems completely unrealistic for higher doses of methadone, though relatistic if your Done is under 30 maybe...
My actual situation = need to jump from 40 - 70 mg/day of methadone (no clinic) back to my rx suboxone after 2-3 months off of it. I'm thinking taper to 30-40mg/day of 'Done for about a week, maybe even 20 for the last 2 days. Then take 2-3 days off, start with 4mg suboxone.
If possible, maybe add a couple days of a low-dose, short acting opioid -- i.e. H -- after the Done is gone. Then just waiting 36-48 before starting with 4 mg Subx. (Maybe I'll start a thread soon -- even though the general issues are answered elsewhere & searchable, specific situations always have their tricky details that have to be considered.)
Really?! That's pretty interesting to me. I definitely agree that above 2 or 4 mg you don't get too much benefit (I've always been able to drop easily from 8 or 16 mg down to 2 or 4, with very little sense of withdrawal). What surprises me is the idea that it would be roughly equivalent of 130mg (or even 70mg) of methadone. I've always had great trouble switching from done to suboxone, remaining in some degree of uncomfortable, sleepless withdrawal for weeks at a time. Maybe I switched over too rapidly or something, but the length of the discomfort persuaded me against that explanation (at least on its own). How did you make that jump? Was it while you were stable on 130mg at the time (as in, that's what it took to keep you "well")?I did just as well with 8mg as I did with 16mg and I had switched from 130mg Methadone. I'm currently taking 2mg and actually feel just as much relief as I would from 8mg. People go on too high of doses. Buprenorphine is real powerful. If your taking doses like 40-70mg daily I'd think 2-4mg of Suboxone would hold you just fine. (higher dose than the calculator provides but still efficient)

oh okay. I see. I though you meant you switched right from 130mg of methadone to suboxone. Yeah, i find that 30mg of methadone is comparable to a few mg of suboxone in terms of preventing w/d. So you're saying you went down from 130mg of methadone to 30mg of methadone first, right? There's where I've usually switched. But I've also read about people jumping from 80-100mg of done onto suboxone after like 4-6 days and being fine. No, I actually switched onto 2mg from 30mg. I had to decrease my dose down to 30mg before I could do the switch onto Suboxone maintenance..
