I read somewhere that re-doing codeine is wasting it cuz ya liver can only handle so much at a time to convert to morphine.
When i take codeine I never take it twice in a day. but ive got a few packet of it atm & Ive had 1 packet of 40 pain tablets & wondering how many hrs untill i can cwe the other packet if I wanna re-dose later?

It has a half life of 2.5-3 hrs so 6 hrs should be fine. I usually redose an hour after to increase the highs length and its only slightly less effective, with 6 hr gaps I notice no diference in strength. The lower end of the LD-50 is 400mg and some believe thats it's ceiling dose, so redose as much as you like if you dont mind a decrease in strength just stop when you hit around 400mgs and wait 6 hrs till dosing again.

I would always wait until the next day & if you can get pure codeine phosphate, that is the only way to go. They come in 30, 50 & 60mg tablets from what I have gotten.

"The lower end of the LD-50 is 400mg"? What does lower end of LD-50 mean anyway? The lower end of the confidence interval? 400mg codeine can be fatal to 50% of the population? News to me..

Everywhere I've read it puts the ld50 between 400-800mg, so better save than sorry. I throw up when I take ~400mg at once so maybe some people will have worse reactions.

Fair enough, I thought it was 800mg :)

Opioid naive patients can be ridiculously sensitive to any opiates, I've seen respiratory depression from 30mg oral morphine, and I presume a LD-50 dose means for a non-tolerant population..

^I would as well. However, some people have a "natural" tolerance to opiates whereas others are naturally extremely sensitive to them, too many factors involved to give an accurate answer, even some doctors can't.

Indeed, LD-50s are a good general guide but everyone is an individual and natural opioid tolerance can vary hugely..

OP, we mods seem to have derailed your thread. Sorry!
