How many hours of sleep do you function on?

I just naturally let me body decide how much sleep it needs. I don't work, but my SO does so I usually sleep around his schedule. Like this morning I woke up at 5.30am with him and went to bed at 9pm. Seems like 8-9 hours is the best. Anything less than 5-6 and I feel really shitty. Anything more than 9 hours doesn't seem to make a difference. I just can't sleep anymore and wake up. The only thing that seems to get to me is too little sleep, no matter how much I got the nights before. More than enough sleep is never a problem. I seem to wake up when I get enough sleep and don't go back to bed unless I need more sleep.

9 minimum. I can sleep indefinitely if given the opportunity. 24 hours or so isn't unheard of.

Depends how shit i want to feel i guess.
In usual, 9-5 ordinary job ill sleep from like 6-8 hours, can function on 5 but each day the fatigue accumulates.

But say im working on a boat, where you work all night, and sleep 4 hours during the day, ive done this for 8 days straight, you can still function with the aid of a shitload of caffeine.

But yeah to feel good and refreshed, 8 hours, if feeling good dosn't matter, don't even need sleep, especially if i have nothing to do for the next few days.

I sleep 6-7 hours a night. Sometimes 5-6. I'd like to cut it down to 4 or 4.5 and keep it on a consistant schedule. I feel that I could maximize my mornings and spend time with my girlfriend during the evening.

However this was a desire of mine while I was at my 9 to 5, which I was just layed off from yesterday. So now I have a little more time to do some things I wanted to do while I was working... I may not need to push for 4-4.5 hours.

Thanks for the replies.

I know that anything less than 6 isn't a good look. A friend of mine has been doing 4 solid every night for 3 years. He is one of the healthiest people I know. So I dunno...

I need at least 7 hours to be fine. 6 hours is ok but it is the lower end, the ideal for me is 9 hours. 10 hours and I'm the king of the world, lol (well not much so, with all the medications I'm taking :p).

If I'm having a manic episode I'll sleep for like 2 hours a night for a week or two and be full of energy. If I'm depressed, it's MUCH more sleep, and I'm always tired.

On average I try to sleep 8 hours. On weekends it's more like 10 - 12 hours.

I must get 8 hours of sleep per night. If I don't I'll start falling asleep wherever Im at the next day and that is annoying as fuk....and it gets me kicked out of places that don't want you to be asleep in

A week or so ago, no amount of sleep left me functional, as my schedule was so erratic, any sleep I got was not restful. For the past week I've been rather functional on six hours. Eventually I wanna be sleeping eight hours or so. Just switched to the third shift--I could easily sleep eight hours if my dog would let me, lol. I'm having an easier time adjusting than she is.

i need at least 8 hours, if not 10+.

f i don't have my concerta, i can sleep til the cows come home. i hate it :|

with my concerta, as long as i take it as prescribed, 6-8 hours is enough...

If i have any less than 5 hours i struggle and not in a good way - ideally i like to have 8 hours. If i can't get 8, i will try to make sure i at least get 6 - i can still function and get through the day ok on 6.

This.

Why am I not in bed? :|

i usually work 7pm-7am, which actually 6:30pm-8am plus 45 minute drive each way, so sleep can be a challenge.
i can get by on 4-5hrs but 7-ish is best.
-izzy

6 = minimum. i can function, but physical athleticism becomes tiresome and i fight like a bitch. many days in a row of 6 hours = a psychotic wood.

7 = what i usually get. HUGE difference from 6.

8 = ideal, rarely do i give it to myself.

about 6 hours during the week, 8 on weekends. Any less than 6 it takes me a good while to shake those zz's out my system and feel alert any more than 8.5 and I start to feel lethargic.

i actually feel the best when I skip a night of sleep. Assuming I was fairly well rested the night before and have suitable amounts of food energy, I just feel more alive after all nighters. Its like the world is mine, and having over 24 hours pass by while I'm cognizant is like the universe tell me a secret.

I remember one night I stayed out tripping with a group of friends and I had to referee a soccer tourney the next day, and (to my surprise) I felt sharper and more connected to things than normal.

But usually 5-8 hours is golden. I don't sleep that much unless I'm hyper drained from something.

I sleep from 2-10 hours regularly.

Any amount can be offset by stimulant use, but not for the long term.

I also agree with not sleeping making me feel more alive during the next day, except when I crash.

10-15hrs a day due to long term drug abuse. i;m barely functional- that would be a gift.
