Benzos How long would it take for xanax tolerance to be gone?

My xanax tolerance sky rocketed to 20 mgs, so i stopped taking it and I havent taken it for about a month, i was wondering if anyone had experience and how long i should wait before my tolerance has gone back down ? i have very bad panic disorder but i dont want to take it at such a high dosage.
 
You're lucky you didn't get withdrawal, stopping benzos cold turkey can be extremely dangerous.

I've been prescribed it for 5 years and have always had to randomly stop taking it for some reason, i never get withdrawals i dont know why.
 
... I almost don't believe you, but there's also no reason to lie about that...


That's REALLY fuckin' weird. Like... I don't think you understand how fuckin' weird that is.
 
lol.. yes it is weird, but onto their question..

It takes quite some time for benzo tolerance to even reduce never mind go back to nothing (which giving your history will never happen)
I would give it a month of no dosing to lower your tolerance/ dose needed to get effects..
if one month doesn't help, try 2.. and so on.
but it will most likely never return back to no tolerance. so don't get your hopes up on someday feeling an incredible "high"/"relief" than when you first started..

I've heard accounts of people in their death beds withdrawing from as little as .75mg daily Xanax over a period of months.

5 years with a 20mg ceiling dose for efficacy, and you stop and start as you please? You need to be taken to a lab and studied.
 
^^Yeah, it would be very odd to lie about such a thing, but that's unbelievable to me that you took it daily for 5 years and were taking what I assume are total daily doses of 20mg? Or do you mean 20mg at a time, which would be all the more unbelievable.

If you are being truthful, you really do need to tell somebody about this and have them run a load of tests on your and find the secret to avoiding w/d.
 
Yeah, seriously. It's like this guy who doesn't get lactic acid build up in his muscles so he can run for literally 24 hours strait and not get fatigued. True story.


This is even crazier though in my opinion, i don't even know how this is possible...

I have been taking Xanax for 15 years under a doctors prescription,
1mg. thee times a day.
Problems began a few years ago when suddenly I was placed on a generic, so I demanded "Brand Only" and the Xanax began to function as before.
The FDA states that if you are switched toa generic it must work as well as the original.

Do not that Xanax with soft drinks like Pepsi or Coke!

Do not increase the amount taken as it will ruin your normal usage.

You can never get high on Xanax, just fall asleep.
 
sorry dude but i take 20 to 50mg of alprazolam/xanax a day for a week give or take a couple days and go the remaining 20+ days without and it takes at least 20mg to even feel them and no less than 30 to cause some amnesia so you should wait at least another month
 
50mg of xanax a day? Are you sure you are talking about xanax(alprazolam)? If you are in fact not lying or mistaken, you are without a doubt a freak of nature.. So you take between 10 and 25 xanax bars a day? WTF? Maybe you are getting bunk pills.. Everyone I know who takes benzos gets w/d and that is on as little as 1-2mg daily for a few months.. My friend had a seizure from stopping a 3mg a day habit after a year..

I think you are talking about diazapam (valium) and are mistaken, lying, or eating bunk pills. My area has been flooded with thousands of fake white xanax bars. They have SOME benzo in them, but to get any effect you need to take about 10 of them.. stupid as hell.

I am sorry but for someone to take that much xanax a day and just be fine when stopping they are a freak of nature, or an alien.. Doesn't make any sense
 
brokedownpalace i am talking about alprazolam i get a prescription and go to different pharmacies all the time to get it so i seriously doubt that all those pharmacies are getting bunk pills in the US i've been on it for just over 7 years and i take way too much of my script when i get it and thats why my tolerance is so high
 
I take 2-4 mg a day when i am stocked with bars, sometimes for a week at a time. sometimes for a month or more. I have been using for a year now and I go on and off xanax also. I must admit that I do not understand the major withdrawals "that are worse than opiates". I do get withdrawals, dont get me wrong. I do get little muscle twitches when I stop and restless. Like insomnia does occur and more anxiety but nothing crazy like people talk about. I am prescribed .5 x2 daily and always eat them within a week to two weeks and have to wait it out till my script if i cant get. I know this is dangerous but i have no choice besides not taking as many at a time or wat not, but once ur in that position, theres not much u can do. I don't think i ever want to go thru the crazy withdrawals people say are worse that opiates and heroin. The worst withdrawal i got from xanax was a stiff and tense neck but it was combined with being cold while smoking an L in the winter in my whip.
