How long to wait between DXM experiences?

Hi everyone, I'm new to these forums so forgive me if this topic is in the wrong place. My friend tried DXM for the first time yesterday (only 130 mg, a first plateau dose) and made the mistake of smoking a LOT of weed afterward. He had a bit of an overwhelming experience, to say the least, but managed to keep calm and survive. The dreamlike feelings and ease of conversation while on the DXM, before he smoked, he remembered enjoying and wishes to try it again without the cannabis. However, he's vary wary of brain damage and cognitive decline as he has a good future and tries to stay away from hard drugs. What is the amount of time he should wait before reattempting a first plateau dose? While on this topic, is there anything that would help prevent NMDA antagonist-related brain damage, and has anyone ever had experience with this damage?

Thanks a lot!

When I first discovered DXM, I went on like a 4 day binge. If it is only first plateau, you needn't wait that long, so long as you don't make a habit of taking it regularly without larger breaks in between. A few doses of DXM, even close together, certainly won't cause brain damage. Prolonged, regular use can, but I wouldn't worry about waiting too long in your case.

Do people really enjoy DXM at such low doses?

I used DXM once a week for several months (Doses ranging from 540mg-720mg). I've stopped since (tolerance grew too high, can't drink more than 8oz of syrup without puking) and I've noticed nothing different. I'm in college and have a 3.9 GPA.

Yeah, low doses can be really enjoyable, actually. It seems after having a few intense experiences on moderate doses of DXM, I can actually feel DXM even at really low doses. It is weird, but yeah even still low doses are enjoyable. They provide euphoria, and excellent social anxiety relief, along with a certain stimulation, and even at low doses some dissociation (not intense, but still).

Hmm... Does anyone know the way in which DXM produces brain damage so that it can be prevented? I've always thought the damage was temporary - mostly the result of buildups of DXM in the body, producing that hangover/day-after feeling that can last for weeks...

DEXing it right now, it only works for me if i can smoke weed once the dissociative effects come on, kinda evens it out, like a weird version on K. when extracted and i did 2 bottles of just the DXM robo syurp and smoked a good few bong hits it was like an pyschedelic opiate almost.

So is it the general concensus that first to second plateau doses aren't noticeably damaging? I would be taking them for social occassions in which I need to meet people that I am uncomfortable around (strangers) so I can be myself more. That would be about once or twice a month...

Low dose DXM is excellent for social anxiety in my opinion. Excellent. Once or twice a month on a low dose sounds fine to me, but I don't have any science on that, just how it sounds. I wouldn't be opposed or worried to doing it that frequently myself.
