Ok. So around 6:30 pm I took half of a 15 mg oxycodone to relax my knees.

I have just been having an absolutely shitty night since then and would like to drink a little bit - but I was wondering how long I should wait before taking my first sip.

It's about 940 pm now and I still feel the oxy but it's definitely wearing off. I'm a bigger guy if that matters - 5'10" 250 - and have been taking opiates for knee pain for over a year now.

Thanks in advance

You could drink right along with the oxy if you so choose. Just watch your alcohol intake, and drink less than your normally would.

They both depress breathing, and only you know your tolerances. It can be a dangerous combination, but is safe as long as dosages are kept safe.

If it's oxycodone immediate release, then six hours would be the appropriate time frame. If it's oxycontin (extended-release) then you would have to wait 12 hours.

I could drink right along with the oxy if you so choose.

hatrix, just because you can tolerate this combination, it doesn't mean it could apply to everyone else. Mixing depressants is extremely risky and you know that!

That was a typo, didn't even realize that. I meant to say You could drink right along with the oxy if you so choose.

And then I expressed concerns for respiratory depression. I've personally never mixed alcohol and opiates, as I don't like alcohol. You know I'm well aware of the risks involved, but as with all CNS depression combos, in low doses it can be safely combined, though there's more risk. Tolerance plays a huge factor.

^ No worries, I was confused with that comment especially coming from you. Especially that the OP was asking a question in regards to avoiding the combination, it just seems odd to recommend it. Thanks for adjusting your post.
