Hey how's it going? I started taking 15-30mg every other day of perc 30s a couple years ago, and now do about 60-120mgs daily and have been for about a year now. I've read lots of threads on here and have gotten lots of mixed reviews from those threads, as well as friends I have who are also addicted.

The last 3 or 4 days I've been trying to taper by only taking 60mgs a day, and I have 1 30mg perc I plan on doing tomorrow. Does tapering take more than 1 day to effectively lower your tolerance enough to make w/d more bearable, or do you need to say take 30mg/day for a few days to effectively taper?

I have 1 8mg strip of Suboxone too, which I want to use as soon as the taper to 30mg is complete. I've been told from friends (who I know don't really know what they're talking about, technically that is. They tell me I "read too much" lol) I should cut it into quarters and use 2mg a day, starting the next morning after my last dose. Yet from the threads I've read on bluelight, I've seen stories of people going into acute w/d, something I'd really like to avoid, as I work 9-5 in an office and cannot be w/ding at work. And I've also read start by only taking 1mg of Sub. I'm just not sure on how much Sub to take with my tolerance.

So I guess my only questions are:

1. After keeping my dose at 60mg a day for 3-4 days, can I just take 30mg tomorrow and that will be enough of a taper to use Suboxone the day after that to quit?
2. I've heard wait 24-36 hours to take Suboxone after last dose, yet my friends have taken it in as little as 6 hours after their last dose and were just fine. I know everyone's different, but what do you guys suggest? And how much Sub should I take?
3. After my Suboxone runs out, whether it takes 4-7 days, will I feel good enough to not take anything, and as long as I can win the mental battle and not "relapse", I can be home free to start feeling better and better every day, and not withdraw?

Thanks in advance,

1. Yes that is fine, you don't even really need to taper from 60 mg a day but it will help to ease the transition and possibly keep the required dose of suboxone down, which is important with only 1 8 mg pill.

2. 1 mg of suboxone to start, just make sure you feel sick. Seeing as you only have 8 mg you should probably try to wait as long as you can bare it. Starting at 1 mg is a good idea because your habit is not that large and it will lower the risk of precipitated w/d. Also, wait 2 hours before judging how much relief the 1 mg gives you, because it can take that long to reach its peak. After that increase by .5 mg and wait 2 hours each time. You honestly should not need more than 2 mg and I think 1-1.5 mg will hold you. IDK when you start to feel sick, but if you can take the 30 mg in the morning or early afternoon and you should have no problem taking suboxone the next morning.

Honestly the risk is relatively low as it is if you only took 30 mg the day before. Waiting 24 hours would be 100% safe but I don't think it would be necessary. The vast majority of people who end up with precipitated withdrawal are either going form methadone to suboxone and in that case have to wait at least 72 hours and sometimes more than 96 hours OR they IV high doses of heroin and even though they feel sick they still have a decent amount of it in their system.

Another thing to consider is alternate routes of administering the suboxone that will help get more out of less, IOW high bioavailability.

3. If you just use 2 mg of suboxone for 4 days you are going to have withdrawal, it won't be as bad but you will not feel good for some period of time. I honestly have not tried this but I can assure you its not some magic way of getting out of an addiction pain free.

I you can get by with 1 mg/day it would give you the option to do a rapid taper that would reduce the withdrawal greatly. Say something like this

day 1 1mg
day 2 1mg
day 3 1mg total used 3
day 4 .75mg
day 5 .75mg
day 6 .75mg total used 5.25
day 7 .5mg
day 8 .5mg
day 9 .5mg total used 6.75
day 10 .25
day 11 .25
day 12 .25 total used 7.5
day 13 .2
day 14 .15
day 15 .1
day 16 .5 total used 8mg

To do this you need to dissolve the suboxone in water and use a 1 or 3 mL needleless syringe to measure out these very small doses. I have done a similar taper before but I used appx 3.5x-8 mg suboxone and tapered over about 45 days. My habit at that time was almost the same as yours. Of course the only way you have this option is if you keep the dose around 1 mg a day. That might be pretty tough, but it is doable.

Also, I have access to more Suboxone, I just would really like to avoid getting dependant on that. Idk how long it takes to get dependant on it.

three weeks on 8-6 mgs, i felt anxiety when i jumped off. I tok some opium some days, and now im back to subuxone since yesterday. But this time i know there can be WD syntoms such as anxiety if using a lot of subuxone. i suggest you to do the fast tapper Rtrain told you . Anyway, if you feel its too little subuxone, here it is aonther fast tapper, its one month and from 8mg to zero, i am using sth similar but starting from just 2 mg. here it is that tapper:

Rtrains taper seems perfect. Similar to the one I used, except I only had 4 mg so I did mine in a week good luck!

Fine the day after. Five days after I had some minor GI issues, but other than that it was easy-ish.
