Just curious if anyone knows when my friend should stop taking her zoloft to ensure no cancellation with mdma.

Thanks in advance!

^ this!

The half life for sertraline (Zoloft) is about 26 hours so you would need to be off it for quite a while, but even then it isn't that simple as SSRIs cause serotonin receptor downregulation, so until the receptors get back to normal you likely won't feel the full effects. What troubles me most is stopping a psychiatric medication, then taking a drug which can exacerbate depression in the aftermath - it doesn't sound like it's worth it at all just for one night of getting high..

Don't forget about SSRI discontinuation syndrome if you've been taking it for a prolonged period. I don't think you should just stop like that if you've been on it for awhile.

You're going to need at least 2 weeks to clear it out, with such a long half-life. Seems like a lot of trouble for minimal reward, IMO.

^ good point! All in all it doesn't sound like a great idea..

its my friend, she very recently got put on zoloft...she doesnt need it, trying to get her to stop taking it before time passes - we actually ate some molly and rolled balls and she had taken zoloft that day...so I'm just confused by that.

^^^^

I need a translator for that !!

I'm guessing the SSRI effects hadnt fully taken hold its takes weeks before you really get the full effect, I'm don't cliam to understand the medical side but the rule of thumb always seesm to be that the sidfe effects tend to lessen after 2 weeks and you should be getting the full effects at 6 weeks. This is how I've worked my way through various ADs, many of them SSRIs.

You say you friend doesnt need the Zoloft, but clearly her doctor thinks she does, if she really doesnt think she neeeds it she should go back to the doctor and discuss it. I took a break from all ADs earlier this year but only after discussing it fully with my doctor. In the end it her decition whqat she does and does not intake, precribed or otherwise, unless your a doctor I don't think you should be advising her on what medication she does and does not need.

Unfortunately, western medicine has made A LOT (i didnt say all) of doctors very myopic with their practice. You have to be your own doctor for the most part these days, or you will honestly get bad advice. 90% of doctors will throw you on a prescription drug before mentioning healthy eating and living. Honestly though, I know her way better than the fucking doctor, just because you go through hard times in life (i.e. working a shit ton, relationship issues, movingn somewhere away from all your friends), doesn't mean you have depression. Doctors understand the body, they dont understand all these new drugs being released constantly...We are still learning new shit everyday, I could rant all day about how pathetic western medicine is.

Hey laffingrass, if your friend has just been put on the shit, not much worries. She can just taper off for a period as long as the period she's been on the drug ;)

Hey don't get me wrong I agree 100% with what your saying, althouigh IME not all dcotors are the same (although that's kinds obvious)

What I was trying to say was if she doesnt want to take the Zoloft, which gave me internal bleeding BTW ! she should consult her Doctor and tell the doctor she wants off and they will adivice the taper required. IME most GPS know jack shit about depression and just work on a set questionaire and then a set list of drugs. If she's only been on them for a couple of weeks she can probably just stop taking them or at least do maybe a week of one day on one day off, that what I've doe in the past although with the Zoloft I stopped it dead after about 6 weeks at whihc point I said I wanted to try not taking any more ADs. I didnt suffer any significant ill effects but I had little choice given the internal bleeding issue.

Two weeks at least... Yet I was dumb and did sass when on celexa a family member of zoloft and I still rolled... Luckly no adverse effects happened but I don't recommend... Yet now I'm on zoloft and haven't rolled since like april? I'm getting of this shit asap anyways its pointless to take doesn't help at all /:
