Ok yall so heres some quick backround:

I was diagnosed with ADD last week and put on Vyvanse 30mg XR. So I know it says on the bottle how yer supposed to take one a day in the morning but being who I am and vyvanse being an amphetamine and all i decided to have a little fun 8). Anyway, so for first dose I took one to see what it was like an it was pretty good (I dont really fuck with amps) so I was like fuck it and the next coupla days i was takin up to 3 30's a day.

So heres the actual question:

Today which i told myself is the LAST day im takin this stuff till my tolerance drops (took 2). Next week though, ima be doin alotta paintin for about a week all day long, but I was wonderin if i don't take the medication for the next coupla days (like 6), will my tolance drop to where I can take one again in the morning and get the good/energy focus. Is about a week enough to drop tolerance to what it was before? I mean, i dont wanna have to be taking 2 or more you know.

This is my answer: don't abuse this. There is a general rule that if you abuse a medication then you will probably not benefit as much from the medication had you not abused it.

ps, I too take vyv, and I know for a fact this is a medication that's best to take every day to get the most benefit.

you might want to consider taking ~6 days off, or however many you screwed away abusing this stuff, then once your precription is at par you might want to resume at only one a day at the same time each day, take this in the morning, not afternoon, and this medication will take aprox 40-60min to begin effecting you, or me atleast, then after that you might have between ten and thirteen hours of coverage. this is only a medication it is up to you to do the rest of the work. do yourself a favor and listen to your conscience, don't abuse this

I am also prescribed vyvanse. I would also recommend taking Rage's advice. It's not good to abuse drugs like vyv. I am prescribed 60mg daily and I don't even take the damn things. I don't really care to feel like an edgy, exited, weird feeling all day. I mainly just sell out my scripts soon as I get them for some easy cash. They're not even worth taking IMO. However, they can come in handy when you need to stay up all night or are coming off a hangover...you can really lose some sleep on these things though... When I "get high" I like to just chill out with my crew and kick it. I guess that's why I'm more of a weed/opiate type person=D

Well three days will be fine for your purposes, but it'll go back up. It takes me about 5 months for my tolerance to reset (although I have a high tolerance as I'm a heavy stimulant user, but YMMV). Also there's like billion threads exactly like this, use the search engine next time :)

as long as you stick with a decent dose you should not build a noticeable tolerance. Just take a little above normal dose. You can't really get fucked up on ADHD pills anyways IMO.

I used Vyvanse at around 70-90mg/day for about nine months and I developed a huge tolerance. I am currently taking a three month break hoping I can reset my tolerance. I would highly recommend taking one or two days off Vyvanse each week and not going above 70mg very often. If you are only using a couple days each week, you shouldn't develop a noticeable tolerance.

Just to clarify, Vyvanse is an amphetamine. Technically it is lisdexamphetamine which is simply dextroamphetamine attached to the amino acid lysine. This helps in preventing the abuse of the drug (but does not stop it entirely).

vyvanse is not an amphetamine.

It is a prodrug of Dextroamphetamine, which is in fact an amphetamine.

OT:
You don't have TOO much of a tolerance yet, believe it or not. When I had no tolerance I started with 60mg per dose, maybe 120mg if i was needing to stay up late or do MAD work. After about 6 or so months this was up to 300mg+ daily (Max I ever took on a morning was 540mg). After about a month break though, I could feel a single 60 yet again. Abstaining for a week should get your tolerance back down to nothing.

I tried a one month break once and my tolerance returned after about one week. I am currently trying a three month break to see how that goes. I guess everyone is different when it come to getting that first high back.

With amphetamines it really depends on what is in your GI tract, and the pH of your GI tract. I suppose its worth noting I always dose amphetamine with a teaspoon of baking soda to make my body more alkaline. Amphetamine effects are based on the range the pH moves, but, if it hits a certain point (cant remember the exact number right now), your body will reset itself. A teaspoon of baking soda brings it to a point where its very alkaline but wont reset, taking amphetamine then have a large range to work over

I have heard of using baking soda before but I'm not sure if that will work with a prodrug such as Vyvanse. Will the baking soda still work given that the amphetamine in Vyvanse isn't released until it passes through the intestine. The wikipedia article for it states that it is unaffected by pH.

The baking soda will also change the pH levels of your blood though, don't forget. Why wouldn't it work? A higher pH in the blood would give the d-amp a larger range to work on, whether its pure d-amp or the GI tract has to take the lysine off first. Either way, d-amp is getting into the blood right?

This is personal experience really, and tbh I don't trust much of what wikipedia has to say.

I don't know about anyone else but my tolerance shot up so fucking fast with these things. I was prescribed 60s and within 2 weeks i was taking 120mg every morning and sometimes adding another 60mg later in the day. It honestly made me the polar opposite of "high", on vyvanse i was everything i wanted to be and more: super productive, extremely positive and forward thinking. I don't know if I'm just naturally really tolerant to stims or if it was that period of extreme abuse that caused it, but i can barely feel a 60mg even after a 6 month+ break. IMO it is by far the strongest of any add drug. Be careful.

I was the same way for my first six months on the drug (really productive, insightful, positive, etc.). I still am but the high only lasts for about five hours and then I crash. I still feel the drug just as strong as I used to but it lasts a lot less time now.

I'm not sure if wikipedia was right about the pH thing or not, just throwing the idea out there. I'm pretty sure that eating baking soda will not change the pH of your blood, but don't quote me on that.

on second thought, in the event that you did not use any sort of amphetamine for about six months to a year you might see some improvement upon starting up again, however how practical is it to wait a year, then again with so many years in a life, what is one, if you can make all the rest to come better than the past. If you stopped for a year, then you wouldn't even want to double/triple and overdose like the op read.

Just did a quick google search and I'm still not convinced that you can change your blood pH to any noticeable degree. Search the term "changes in blood pH" and correct me if I'm wrong. I would really love for this to be true though.

The real question is if a change in stomach fluid pH will affect Vyvanse due to it being a prodrug.
