I took the 4oz bottle of syrup around 3pm and it's now 9:30 and most of the effects are gone but my vision is still skewed and weird.

about 24hrs to return to fully normal for me, the hangover the next day sucks sometimes.

it all varies on the dosage, your body, and tolerance.
I found after a 3rd plateau DXM trip, I was very disoriented and my mind was very blank for the rest of the day, until I crashed out for about 14 hours and recovered.
