Opioids how long do cooked opiates last?

I want to prep some needles for work. If I cook and load a bunch today how long will they last? Is there any way to store them for long periods of time?
 
What do you mean by "cook"? Heroin does not need heat to dissolve in water. Heating it also will allow more impurities to get into the solution. Also, water needs to be boiled for AT LEAST 20 minutes for any significant amount of bacteria to be killed.

Furthermore, I forget the exact figure but heroin, when let to sit in water will hydrolyze back into morphine. This is not good.

Basically, prepping shots of dope early is not a good idea.
 
Yes it also depends on the opiate. No matter how you prepare it, leaving water sitting in open air or any container for any period of time will start to teem with bacteria. Now if you prepare an opiate in a syringe and plan on using it in 1-6 hours you really should be okay. Although once it starts to sit for half a day, a whole day, and so on it will get worse and worse.

However, like I said it depends on the opiate. If you prepare heroin, like BrokedownPalace said, you don't want to wait at all to shoot it because it starts to turn back into morphine. If you prepare most other opiates, such as hydromorphone (dilaudid) or oxymorphone (opana), they will not lose their potency, but rather just begin to build bacteria.

Again, you should not "cook" your opiates under any circumstances. It is the worst misconception about preparing opiates for intravenous injection. Wether it is heroin or an opiate in pill form, they all are extremely soluble in water at room temperature. So simply just place the opiate in water and stir and it will dissolve; adding heat will not only destroy the opiate but will dissolve all the inactive cut/binders and fillers into the shot, which will make it to your circulatory system.

If you really want to prepare an opiate, that is not heroin, and leave it for later use, you need to look into bacteriostatic water and micron filters. Bacteriostatic water guarantees up to 28 days in a closed container or vial. Use the search engine to find the Micron Filtering Mega Thread for further information.

The way I was taught to cook my morphine and diluadid was to put the powder on the spoon, pull ~1cc of water (spray it out) and then heat it till it's smoking. This will cause it to seperate the particles and help the filter do it's job.

On the morphines since they wax up, I am pretty certain I have to cook it, but on the diluadids I don't?

I'm pretty new to this realm, I only learned... well yesterday :D (from someone whose been doing it for 20 years).

This is all not true though, and we have explained why in many different places.

You cannot get cotton to properly filter pills. Only using cotton to filter pills is a dangerous practice. You need, at the very least, a 0.22um micron filter to be able to remove the most dangerous particles from a solution; look at the last link of my signature for more information.

Heating a shot until it's smoking is wasting the active ingredient by destroying it with heat (depending on the burning point of the active ingredient) while encouraging inactive ingredients to dissolve into the solution.

Then, when you prepare your shot, before or after you shoot it, the inactive ingredients will precipitate out of the solution; doing this increases the amounts of inactive ingredients you will shoot into your body.

If this is the way your friend has been shooting pills for 20 years, he will have health problems as a result, guaranteed.

If you want to use bacteriostatic water and a micron filter, they can last a lot longer.
 
Basically Cay, the Captain pretty much summed it up. The way you are prepping your shots is going to cause you serious health problems in the not so distant future. Look into micron filters and bacteriostatic water, it will make a huge difference.
 
Hey Capt. I had a few questions that you might be able to link me around to. I did do some searching but I'm failing.

A) I went to the drugs FAQ and used the search tool but I can no longer find the safe injection megathread. Do you know where that went to? It seems I'm wrong in a lot of fashions and I want to make sure this is right.

B) So cooking isn't needed, just grab 1cc (size of needle) warm water (can I use freshly boiled water?) and crushed pill, mix together, drop filter (.22um), pull, stick, pull in some blood (to make sure I've got a vein), and shoot?

C) After reading all the links and about peoples abscesses I've been thoroughly scared, but I have a lot riding on IV'ing over oral use. So I would really like to know what is the worst case scenario of shooting, the general consensus has been "it's bad" and one thread had more details of the inactive ingredients but only rittalin seemed to have vein collapsing bad shit. Note I'm injecting Diluadids and Morphines. -- Don't worry about this one so much, I'm still doing research on it. I thought I would throw it out incase you knew off the top of your head but don't do a lot of research for me when I haven't done my full due-diligence.

D) If I go the route of the bacteriostatic water, do you think it would last a month? It would be nice to make a weekend project just mix up my month's supply have 5 needles a day prepped for work with 1cc.

E) Does it mix evenly? Let's say I wanted 8mg of Diluadid per 1cc (and used a 28guage 1cc syringe) could I grind up 240mg (30ml bottle * 8mg of diluadid) and dump and shake it into a bottle then put a microfilter over the bottle and let it run to another bottle and have 8mg per 1cc? I guess my concern is it keeping it's consistency... it would be a bad day in hell if I got more then 15mg of diluadid in a single pull.

F) You say expressly to absolutely not inject the bacteriostatic liquid by itself, my question is, what makes mixing it with the meds safe? I'm a little concerned about it :(


I'm really sorry about the barrage of questions, I really just don't want to fuck up my body (and sadly really don't want to IV, I'm at a point where what my doctors give me just isn't potent enough and I can't keep asking for a raise to my dose, not saying I don't aim for the high, but to be honest I really don't often and no I'm not aiming to look like the good guy, I am doing this partially for pleasure mostly for pain mgmt).

You want to use cold water. You can use freshly boiled just make sure you let it cool.

With pills you are risking pulmonary embolism and damage to the heart valves in addition to the usual risk of IVing as listed in the megathread. Worst case scenario is death by infection I'd say (though death by other means is arguably just as bad).

I don't know. Personally I wouldn't trust it unless I made it up in a sterilized lab and bacteriostatic for injection is probably not the best bet for long term storage (unless lab grade I suppose).

Any dissolved ions will distribute evenly in solution. I don't know if gravity filtration will work for micronfilters though and any suspended solids (i.e. not dissolved) will not mix evenly in the fluid but sink to the bottom with time.

You need to make it isotonic (i.e. the same amount solutes as blood). Injecting pure water into your veins will cause there to be an imbalance across cellular membranes and the cells will bloat causing damage.
