Benzos how long can you safely take nitrazepam without dependance or wd?

iirc it was about twice a week max, no more than that dosage. ive had 20mg yesterday and 20mg today, how long can i safley use them for, 10 have left.
also, why does taking nitra or other benzos make food taste so strange? ive had the same thing with diazepam (illict0.... maybe they arent the highest quality.
