Hi all,

Sorry to the mod if my original post is still under review. I am reposting this message, as I may have just hit a bug the first time I tried to post this.

I had an interesting experience this summer that I am still trying to piece together.

Short form question:

Is it possible for a certain amount of benzos to make a person sleep for an entire day? In this case, approx. 70mg of Valium and 12mg of Xanas were consumed by myself, who doesn't tinker with benzo's too often but tends to have a high tolerance to most drugs (including Xanax and Valium, which I have tried before this night.)

Long story:

On a Thursday night, I had qty. 9 Xanax 2mg bars, and qty. 10 Valium 10mg pills in my possession. Over the course of a few hours, I consumed 6mg of Xanax and 30mg of Valium. I remember surfing some forums, playing a little bit of keyboard, and just loafing around my apartment. Eventually, I blacked out.

When I woke up, I felt like I had been hit by a truck. Getting out of bed felt considerably more exhausting than usual. I also noticed my cats food bowl was running low; I feed her everyday, and usually in the mornings it is still over half full.

When I found my pill bottle, I was suprised to find that I had only qty. 3 Xanax and qty. 3 Valium total. This means I consumed 12mg Xanax and 70mg Valium total.

The next thing I noticed was that my cell phone was telling it was Saturday.

I am curious to see if I was put down for so long for taking way more benzos than I should have. I have searched via Google and Bluelight for instances of benzo's putting people down for extended periods of time, but haven't found anything. This leads me to the conclusion that I lost track of time (I was unemployed at the time, so it was pretty easy to do that) and I really took the pills on a Friday night.

Any insight is greatly appreciated. For those who have concern for my reckless behavior, please do not fret or feel bad for me. I have since been completely sober (for the longest time since I had my first drink four years ago) and am currently going through counsouling to try and find ways of getting my addictive personality under control.

Days. It depends, you probably woke up but weren't really conscious enough to move or really think about much or remember it, then you probably fell back asleep and were in and out of light sleeping for ages. You also probs woke up had more and forgot about it. Or as you said you got the day wrong.

Or your cat ate them.

That's a lotta benzos to do with no tollerance, they would have been very strong for you.

The largest amount of benzos I've consumed at once is so similar to yours that you may not believe me--I took 12 mg alprazolam in 1.5 ml ethanol solution and 80 mg diazepam powder for the purpose of sleep, no tolerance, and woke up 10 hours later. Never blacked out so I could have told you when I fell asleep accurate to 5 minutes the next day. I'm a light sleeper/insomniac, and it'd probably take an enormous amount of phenazepam to keep me down much longer.

It's entirely possible you were asleep a whole day. A friend who sleeps more soundly than I took 8 mg alprazolam and slept a solid 18 hours without waking.

You didn't do anything terribly reckless since you did a couple drugs that aren't lethal on their own in the safety of your home without stepping on your cat ;) If you're the type who tends to black out and ambulate, that's another matter, but it doesn't sound like it.

sound possible to me I had a moderate tolerence to benzos and took 4 mg kpins with 90 mg of valium over a 4 hour period, was also consuming vodka probably about 4-6 shot, this was a sunday night, I woke up at about noon on teusday although I'm fairly sure I had been waking up and not remembering for a while before that.

Years ago I was so addicted to Klonopin (clonazepam) that I got up to 30mg 3 times/day by seeing multiple doctors and going to multiple pharmacies. Before my tolerance became insane I would sleep almost all day and just wake up to take more klonopin. For a year I was on 2mg of xanax 4 times per day and since then I cannot go without benzos without having a seizure. I've been on klonopin for almost 11 years now lol. Super heavy doses of benzodiazepines seem to increase the half-life somewhat. The half-life will give you an idea of how long they last. Klonopin has a 12 hour half-life, valium i think is 5-6, xanax is 3-4, not sure about ativan or rohypnol...I think halcion/triazolam has the shortest half-life, 2-3 hours. I currently take klonopin 2mg twice/day, and my triazolam is filled for 60 0.25mg, but it takes 3mg of triazolam to get me to sleep unless it's combined with a high dose of opiates, which means a 1month prescription is good for 5 nights out of the month lol. At least it prevents me from developing much of a tolerance to triazolam.

Excellent, thanks to everyone who replied, your information was useful.

I just checked the forums I was posting on and saw posts from the night of Thursday, and none from Friday.

Between the info I've gotten from this post and the fact that I didn't do any posts on my forums on Friday, I am now much more certain that I was out for an entire day.

Thanks again for everyones help.
