How is Xanax recreational?

How can Xanax be recreational? I mean no matter how little I take, it just knocks me down and makes me sleepy... And that's it!

Xanax can't even come close to Klonopin. As I remember, Klonopin gave me that motivational boost to do my stuff.... I cannot tell you how many projects I have done on Klonopin.

The problem is that now I have Xanax, and I don't have Klonopin. So I was hoping Xanax could give me those similar effects to Klonopin, but I guess that's not possible.

Any thoughts?

I've been on Xanax for a long time and it has never been recreational for me personally. It's very good at promoting calm quickly, but I've never got a high or buzz from it. Like you, it just eventually puts me out. Also, I have strange dreams when I've taken it before sleep.
 
Well, it can very well be recreational depending on how you use it. I quickly learned that abusing xanax was fucking pointless the more personal items I lost.

2mg with no tolerance and you'd be loopy and you can consider that recreational. Any more would definitely black you out if the 2mg doesn't and any less will just have you feeling like you drank some alcohol and you'd primarily be sleepy.

So finding "fun" in being sleepy is risky with benzos as they have a tendency to cause the user to do stupid shit once the abuse starts.

Sometimes I take 10mg Valium then go out drinking and it's amazing. I moderate my alcohol intake and only take that 1 pill. I would also use stronger doses to comedown smoother from stims and whatnot.

A low dose plus some weed can induce a very chill high.

Please keep in mind habitual use of benzos and especially short acting ones like xanax can produce annoying & unpleasant rebound effects in varying intensities depending on how long it was taken for.
 
I never liked xanax much, my preferable benzo is Valium.......

But my most euphoric I've ever done is temazepam, love this things, glad they're hard to get, cause I don't need a benzo habit.

Xanax has always just made me tired with if course taking away my anxiety/stress.

In short, it depends on your playground. Set and setting etc.
 
The above poster is right xanax isn't very recreational unless you have an anxiety disprder. When you take xanax with no type of anxiety you feel sleepy and loopy, when you go over board you will likely pass out, I would just use it when your feeling very anxious
 
I have had severe anxiety my entire life and I've tried a whole cocktail of different benzos at different strengths and have never felt anything recreational about them. I imagine they are more subjective than other drugs. They do work great at stopping a panic attack however.

I am kind of curious why people say different benzos will effect them differently since in theory they all work on the same mechanisms (gaba right?) maybe a smarter science person could contribute.
 
people with anxiety feel euphoria or what they think is euphoria when its really just relief from anxiety.

i feel euphoric when taking valium moreso than xanax.

Yeah, really. I just took 45 mg clonazepam coupled with 7 shots of 40% ABV Cognac. In other words, I'm properly exhilarated and inebriated.

However, alcohol tends to exacerbate my panic disorder. Therefore, I suggest using benzodiazepines sans alcohol.

Wow, 45 mg clonazepam? That must be pricey
