How is the synergy between opiates and benzo's?

I thought I was a post on this recently, but I searched and couldn't find it. I took a 226mg dose of codeine tonight, and it's been a little over an hour since I took it. I've got a nice buzz since my opiate tolerance is lowered quite a bit lately. I've got a prescription for 1mg Xanax's and have quite a few on hand. I have a pretty decent tolerance to these unfortunately, it takes me about 5-6mg to get a nice high. If I popped say 2 or 3mg just to cautious, would it be safe?
 
I take benzo's all the time while comming down from opiates and have never had any adverse side effects besides that benzo hangover the next morning. But I have to say my tolerance for xanax is half of yours...
 
opiates and benzos are perfectly fine to combine, in fact I enjoy peaking on both, the benzos add a nice touch to the opiates, seemingly making less count more opiate wise. Key here, is if youre low on opiates pop your pills then pop a few benzos, the buzz will work out nicely.
 
As you even hinted to in your subject line, there is a synergy between the two, benzos and opioids are GREAT to combine, it's highly recomended as long as you keep yourself in check... you really said it all yourself - it takes X amount of benzo and Y amount of narcotic to get you high, but if you (.5X)+(.5Y) then the end outcome is the same, or at least it should be...
 
it's not that hard on u physically to combine these 2 downers??
how does that compare with combining two stimulants?
 
Well it's the next morning and I'm fine. I got pretty well buzzed off the codeine, more so than I expected to, since I had a supply of Percocet for a while, but it's been over a month since I have had any. Last night I wound up taking 3mg of Xanax about 2 1/2 hours after taking the 226mg of codeine. I was fine, except when I was reading a book (hardly reading, more like reading a page and nodding out then reading that page again) in bed, I noticed I was breathing loud, almost like snoring while awake, but it sounded more like heavy breathing, and I would lapse into this whenever I stopped thinking about it. But anyway, I feel fine today, I slept 9 hours and I'm good. Thanks for the replies everyone.
