Today was a day.
So, yesterday as we all know against my better judgement I took a not insubstantial quantity of psychedelics knowing I had work at 10am the the next day. Initially I planned to be in bed by three but best laid plans and all that I didn't want to the night to end so I don't crash out until about 6.
Wake up a few minutes before the start of my shift and predictably still can't walk straight, I'm still sliding off walls from the pregabalin my working memory is shot from the acid (or the shrooms idk) I have disco vision from all the 2cb and and my pupils are still the size of pancakes.
I'm understandibly apprehensive about the prospect of running a kitchen for the next 12 hours, but what the hell death or glory it's not my first rodeo.
So I have a quick power shower grab myself a coffee and head outside for my morning smoke and cafe au lait while I wait for the ovens heat up as usual.
I step outside and am greeted by a dozen fire engines, the same number of police cars plus a few ambulances and around 40 officials in uniform milling about doing whatever they're doing. The entire area has been cordened off and I'm sat there with my coffee while watching a boy in blue launching a drone into the air.
I'm still high AF after 15 hours of enthusiastic drug consumption and questioning whether any of this is real or if I just haven't woken up yet. I pinch myself, it hurts, bummer.
Apparently somebody reported seeing a body in the early hours and sure enough by lunchtime they'd fished a swollen corpse out of the river a few metres from my place of work.
I ask myself "is this all real or am I still just trripping balls? Of course the answer was "yes".
So that was a thing, but the silver lining is that the pub ended up opening 3 hours late whidh gave me just enough time for the elvanse to kick in and the downers/tryptamines/lysergerides/phenethylamines to wear off because if I'd had run a busy line all I may well have been triple fried fucked. Mercifully the evening wasn't too busy so I managed to muddle through just about.
Weird day. Gonna sleep well tonight I think.
