How fast should it turn black?

I tested a few pills and one started out kind of pinkish purplish, and after about 10 seconds it was totally black. Is this still a good pill, or is it weak, or what?
Thank you

The colour of the reaction is telling you something.
First off - which kit were you using to conduct the test?
Keep in mind that a mixture of substances will result in a mixture of colour.
Imagine purple mixed with bright yellow (meth) or orange (amphetamine).
Also its important to remember that marquis reagent can be fooled, and numerous substances can produce a colour SIMILAR (but not the same) as MDxx, and might lead you to think it is fine when it really isn't.
Ideally, if you don't have one already, get an E2 kit.
Information is at www.chemicalgeneration.com.au and orders are taken at www.ravesafe.20m.com
If you're in the US, dancesafe would be a good idea if you're really unsure of this pill.
Johnboy can answer questions about testing in Australia, and I would be happy to answer testing questions on the UK.
aj would be best for explaining the Dutch testing services.
I guess my point is, if you're not comfortable with the test results, obviously you shouldn't take the pill (though it seems people still take ones that test poorly), but you should also consider having a lab analysis done wherever possible. That way, of something were actually wrong with the pill, more people could be made aware of the accurate lab results.

Nothing is 100%, and I doubt the manufacturer would be willing to put up any sort of quotes, its a non exact spot test of what the main active ingrediant in a substance may be. It is not made out to be any more than that (not that it reduces its usefulness!)
That aside, it theoretically is possible to fool one or the other, but both together is chance that is measured in descriptions relating to bee reproduction.

Soma:
The E2 is capable of identifying a significantly broader range of substances than Marquis reagent. That said, we still feel marquis reagent (which is intended for spot checking amphetamines & opiates) still has a place in testing, and so its recommended to have both an E1 and E2.
I personally won't make the comment that E2 is foolproof, however I will say that the E2 is FAR LESS LIKELY to be fooled.
