How does your body feel on opioids?

I have a question which might seem a little odd.

What sort of bodily sensations do you personally get when you're high from opioids?

I don't mean like how do you feel mentally (ie relaxed, sleeply, I mean how does your body itself actually feel - specifically your arms and legs? Do they feel heavy? Or weak like jelly? Or... What? How do they feel?

What other bodily sensations do you experience?

Hey, when I was taking full opiates (now on sub maintainence) about 20/30 mins after ingesting the DOC by mouth, I would start to feel a weird sensation in my stomach, similar to how you feel when you have been fed, it's very satisfying. I would then know that it was starting to work. This would follow by slight itchiness, my body temperature would rise so I'd feel a little flushed, and everything seemed to be easier, typing etc. I can't think of nothing else apart from general full body relaxation. I do miss that feeling as with subs you don't get much more than a slight mood lift.

yes you got everything right there, I am on my 4th year of suboxone maintenance and every morning when I take my day's first dose I get that exact feeling you describe, especially the stomach thing, I really love it. Another thing that must be noted about suboxone, well not just subs, but all opiates in general... is that they make you emotional very numb. Me personally I love being numb to the world, I never cry, don't really laugh, really don't have many emotions when I do they are dull kind of

Ι tried heroin once. Ιf I noticed any body effects, that would be some itch, which hardly was a problem because of the mental effects.

Heroin, depending on dose, purity and a few other deciding factors tends to have that complete muscle-relaxing effect on me, not to pronounced, and not like a soma buzz, but more of a euphoric relaxation on the mind and body, rarely do my arms or legs become "heavy" or have any sort of "jelly" type feeling.

I do opiates my arms feel stronger. My legs are definitely feeling stronger. When the inevitable come down comes I do get the dreaded itchies. But it's mostly contained to my abdomen and it's fairly mild. Oh, yeah, forgot one other side effect............ Diarrhea of the mouth. All in good fun though.

It always reminded me of the comfortable sensation I get (or used to get) when I wake up early in the morning, feeling cold and sleepy, take a hot shower and then go back to my bed while it's still warm. I used to do that all the time back when I was in high school.

I feel very warm, even when standing in cold I feel warm and when the WD sets in I feel very cold.

comfortably numb to life

Basically. PF got it right. Warm, fuzzy, happy, sometimes itchy (but I don't mind that one bit), only been truly nauseous once or twice when I took doses that far exceeded my tolerance at the time.
