Exogenous testosterone basically affects the whole neurotransmitter system.
It's got nothing to do with increased hematocrit, unless of course you were anemic to start, then maybe the increased values would make you feel more energized. Otherwise, your doctor sounds like an idiot.
Based on my personal experience I would absolutely agree that Testosterone has a significant effect on neurotransmitters.
It is stimulating in nature but does not impair sleep at least not at low to moderately high dosages.
