My bong stanks like shit after one day old bong water sits in it. i gotta rinse the hell out of it every time i smoke and its annoying. is there anything i can do that would keep my bong smelling fresher longer?

isopropyl alcohol, salt, and little bit of water.

swish around, gets rid of everything.

what kind of material is it? glass, acrylic?

don't let the bong water sit in the bong. Empty the water out after each use. +1 to what The chemist said

nice choice!

well, i say take my advice and do this directly after a session. do not refill the piece until it's ready to be used again.

Haha, it is far too late for my bong. I'll keep this in mind when I buy a new one. Also, what is the general opinion on Formula 420? Would that work as well?

^Formula 420 is just alcohol and salt, only with a massively inflated pricetag.

is it really?! ive never purchased it, but its just funny to see how easily people buy into marketing. Ive always stuck by the coarse salt and alcohol method. Ive even used vodka from the liqour cabinet when i didnt have any iso.

agh, but that's not something i want to do directly after a session... catch my drift? cleaning my bong is never high on the list of priorities when i'm stoned, but i haven't had this thing for long so i'm sure eventually it will be. until then...:p

^dude, i hear you 100%, but believe me if you force yourself to, eventually it will become second nature and you--and you bong--will thank me.

Has anyone ever tried boiling their bong?

dude, that sounds like a good thing to try, it would sterilize it, and kill and bacteria lurking in there...kind of like a ghetto autoclave.

this wouldn't really work on bongs larger than 20" tall though.

Yeah Formula 420 is 100% marketing (as seems to be the case with many cannabis-related products.)

my friend has also used hydrogen peroxide if you have that but no iso. and I rarely clean my slides (like, until they're too res'd out to hit :P ) although it's nice to keep the bong clean and shiny, as tough as it is to do so.

I have used formula 420 and the only reason it works well is, the alcohol they use is a higher percentage than what you get in the store. Most places only carry 75% but some stores carry 91% too. Also formula 420 has a great smell the overpowers that nasty week old bong water/ gnarly resin smell. but from an economical standpoint if you don't want to shell out the extra 6 bucks get the highest proof alcohol you can find and Epsom salts.

Good advice in here.

I use the 91% isopropal alcohol, a baby bottle brush (>$1 @ dollar store) + kosher salt. It cleans my glass bong like it was brand new. If I haven't cleaning it in a couple weeks, I might have to clean it twice, but it looks headshop fresh.

i've had bad experience with bowling glass-pieces to clean them.

i've noticed they tend to crack (not break, just crack all over) the second you set them on any kind of surface after you take it out.

no running water in the house atm, so in desperation i blasted each piece of my r00r with the yard hose - they came up sparkling in seconds. the whole clean took under a minute.

not head shop clean, but 95%.

i am aware it could all have ended in tears.;)

buy a strait bong they are easier to clean

something like this helps
