I am new to morphine in general, especially ER medications. I was switched from Percocet 5/325, 4 x day, to 15 mg morphine ER, 2x/day. I personally don't think it's strong enough, but it's not bad either.
I believe I was told they start lower to start new medicine? Or something like that.

I am the one who requested to go ER, but I was cut off Percocet, that I thought I'd get for some breakthrough pain if needed. So if I'm stuck with one medication, it has to be strong enough, and then some.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Btw, in an attempt to feel "good", I have taken a total of 60mg ER morphine, 1200mg Gabapentin, 1 mg Clonazepam, 400mg Tagamet, 500mg of naproxen and 1.5 liters of tonic water with quinine. I feel slight sedation, but nothing like nodding or any type of high like I remember.
Anything will help. Thanks for responding.

I was on MS Contin for about 2 months after surgery, I was also prescribed Percocet 5/325 and am still on them. The MS Contin gave me some serious constipation. I did not get any Nod from the MS just an overall relaxed feeling and some great sleep. I am also prescribed 3mg of Klonopin which I took with the MS. How is your tolerance it sound like it's pretty high given the fact you are not feeling too much. The Percocet definitely helped when combining the 2. Maybe u can talk to the DR and explain your need something for breakthrough pain.

Great post. I am btw on 3 mg of Clonazepam also. The first thing the doc said was I was cut off the Percocet. I don't know why. I figured that was for breakthrough pain. Second, I don't know why I was started on such a low dosage of the MS Contin. I feel relaxed and that's pretty much it.

I do have a larger tolerance to opiates that they don't care much about that.

I have been on and off a lot of pain meds in my day, if u don't mind me asking did u have surgery or get hurt. I was put on and MS after having surgery to remove a rod from my leg but they broke it my leg trying to get the rod out so they gave me both for 30 days 15Mg MS and 5/325 Percocet for breakthrough pain. I am now on Percocet 5/325 for others ailments but I have to go to a civilian doctor for the Persc because the VA won't prescribe any Narcotic pain meds with the klonopin. Depending on what your ailment is there is usually a secondary reason for extra meds.

Fair enough. I'm a former cancer patient, and currently suffering bad fibromyalgia.
By the way, I asked this question all over the place in different threads, but if I had a 15mg morphine ER pill, and I chewed it up, how much morphine would it release? I know there is some wax coated medicine in there for the time release, but what at least could it potentially release that way?

To the best of my knowledge once you chew it up completely u will get an instant release, just becareful taking more than u feel u can handle. I am sorry for your past and current situation and wish u the best. I can't see why u wouldn't be able to get something for breakthrough pain, just a shame. Good luck Speed King I wish u the best.
