Like compared to oxy and compared to blues (fentanyl)?
Do you mean in a recreational sense?
Years ago I was on methadone, eventually reaching an enormous dose of 380mg. But they don't start you off on doses like that. The clinic that I went to was quite expensive and so when I kept on asking for more, they kept on giving me more until eventually, I stopped asking for more (at 380mg). The clinic was designed for extreme privacy, catering to the rich or hollywood types/celebrities. The emphasis on privacy was so extreme that there were multiple entrances to get in, with each door leading to a private waiting room. Essentially, the idea was that patients would never see one another patient, however, on very rare occasion you would wind up in the elevator with someone who was headed to the clinic. I never saw anyone famous in the elevator (at least no one that I recognized, i don't watch alot of TV or movies), but one person that stands out in my memory was this shockingly beautiful woman who was easily the most "perfect" looking woman I have ever seen in my life (i guess she was the wife of someone rich or famous). I'm no simp but she had this radiant beauty to her that was very unusual. The fucked up part was that she was pregnant, like maybe 7-8 months pregnant, so that kid was born addicted to methadone. I saw the lady again one other time, leaving the building, driving a Bentley of course.
Long-story short, I was basically able to dictate my dose because it was an expensive, private clinic designed to cater to the patient above all else (I would routinely fail drug test and they didn't care -- so long as I kept paying). So of course, being a addict, I kept on asking for more, which resulted in that insane dose of 380mg/day (which is equivalent to something like 4.5 grams of morphine, or thousands of milligrams of oxycodone).
Sorry, back to the question.
As far as the high of methadone versus says oxycodone, these days, if i were given a choice of taking any recreational opioid, I'd probably choose methadone. Meaning that I'd choose methodone over oxycodone, heroin etc. I enjoy a very long, lasting high and the mood boost etc. It is a great functional opioid.
That said, if you are switching to methadone from fentanyl, then you might not notice the recreational effects of methadone. This is because A) your tolerance is high from fentanyl and B) the doses they will start you off on will be very low (30mg-40mg) and not enough to produce a significant high. Even at the fancy place I went to, on the first day the most they would give me was 60mg. The very first day I went there, after the intake process, they gave me 40mg of liquid methadone (in a champagne flute

), then had me wait around abit after which they asked if I needed more, to which I said yes, and they gave me another glass with 20mg. Which was plenty since I went there for a tar heroin habit.
Despite having once been on 380mg/day, these days, 40mg would get me high as a kite since my tolerance is low. And if i tried to take my old dose of 380mg right now, i'd be dead within 2 hours.
But i strongly recommend methadone for those struggling with persistent opioid addiction. Methadone is a great opioid. I was also able to get off of it *fairly* easily, by tapering slowly. Unfortunately, in most situations, methadone clinics make you jump through alot of hoops, and are stingy with the dose. Still, I would recommend it. Great functional opioid. I miss it sometimes.
