Ok so bare with me here, after watching my girlfriends cat go CrAzY on some 89p catnip from Wilko's it got me thinking how does it affect their brain? what receptors are targeted? is there anyway to find out more how they feel?
check this short vid on youtube of cats tripping out on it and stuff

HAHA Very curious, is it easy to get hold of in australia? I have a cat and would love to see him enjoy it like the cats in the video.

As for your question about a human equivilant, there's a new drug on the market around called LSD, I have heard from vetanarians most cats seem to catnip has similar effects to this 'LSD'.

lol catnip always wanted that for my kitties. i wonder if catnip is the reason why cats are so curious and differently minded to other animals and can like seems they can understand what your saying

I don't think there's any restrictions on it anywhere in the world tbh!
We av bought catnip scented toys before that did nothing.... Get a cheap bag of the stuff and the cat goes crazy! Jumping about chasing and seeing stuff that ain't there its mad!

i have some catnip growing on my balcony. it seems to be the only herb i haven't killed so far, and it's thriving.
it's quite a nice looking plant, and i few years ago i dried some out and used it to mix with cannabis in joints; it was nice, but not psychoactive (in humans). pleasant enough as a mix though, i don't smoke tobacco, even in spliffs.

i wish i had a kitty to share it with...must take some round to my friend's cat to see if she likes it.

My friend bought a Catnip plant for her cat a while ago. At the time she was living with her brother, who also had a cat. Her cat fucking loved it! You'd just pick off a couple of leaves, hold it in front of her and she would start rubbing her face on them and would continue to eat it. She'd usually just roll around on the ground, stretching out for about 20 minutes and then go back to doing normal cat things.

Her brothers cat didn't like it though, we showed some to it once and it didn't seem to like the smell and just walked away.

When I was a kid I grew a catnip bush. It seeded everywhere and started sprouting out of the lawn, in all the gardens, couldn't get rid of it! Hahaha. There was one bit in particular that grew massive, the giant, shrubby bit of it started hanging over the small retaining wall of the planter box it was in making a little 'fort' out of catnip - My cat would just climb in there and roll around for hours =/ She'd even bite off heaps of leaves and take them to random places, chew them up, bat them around, roll in them, run away, run back again, start eating them again, jump around like a crazy thing, it was hilarious.

Once I picked a whole heap of catnip leaves and dried them out to make a little catnip toy out of a handkerchief for the cat. I'm in my room sewing the dried catnip into the toy when my mum yells out to me from the kitchen, she startled me a bit so I jumped, accidentally dropping the dried, crushed catnip everywhere. My mum comes into my room and I'm sitting there looking all guilty because I've just made a huge mess with this plant on the carpet, my mum gets this weird look and drops to her knees, starts picking up all the catnip super quickly, smelling it (like really smelling it, damn near snorting it. So weird). Then I realise she thinks she's caught me with weed which made me crack up laughing, which kind of spurred her on xD Hahaha. Funniest shit man.

Anyway... That's all I got about catnip, hahaha.
