how does alcohol affect tolerance?

I normally take 10-20 mgs hydrocodone with 4-5 beers once a week. Sometimes twice a week. How does the alcohol affect the hydro? For instance.. I want to take some tonight but without alcohol. So should I up the mgs to 30? Is been about two weeks since I last took some.

I would say alcohol potentiates any cns depressant, and it is one itself. That being said, if your habit is mixing with alcohol and then stop you will feel the hydrocodone and that's it. My concern is the amount of Tylenol (acetaminophen) you are consuming along with alcohol can be harmful to your liver. It's not recommended that you go over 3,000 mg per day. Your safe as far as that goes, no problem there but taking with alcohol is not a good practice.

You could raise your dose but ultimately you're jacking up your tolerance. It's in your best interest to learn how to do a cold water extraction. This effectively removes the acetaminophen. There are lots of threads on this. Also I saw a you tube video showing how to do it. Be safe!
