How do you keep yourself "In Check" with perscription drugs???

i do opioids about twice a month. Either oxy , Norco or Tramadol. & usually potentiate them with a mg. or two of K-pin.

My opioid tolerance has never been affected & i want to keep it that way..... %)

Benzos are a different story though since i take 1 mg. of K-pin as prescribed everyday & im addicted.

I remember being able to cop a buzz off of 10 mg. of valium.

those we're the good ol' days

I've managed to avoid the temptation to indulge myself by taking extra pain meds

I don't know how, but I'm pretty damn good at taking only as prescribed. Of course I'll think about taking extra sometimes for a heavier high, but I don't

I used to be perscribed 16mg of suboxone daily when i had a habbit with opana. I would save up all my subs. When i found myself needing rediculess amounts of opana (rediculess amounts to me anyway) to get high, i would start taking my suboxone and then start lowering my dose of suboxone as soon as i could. I would use the subs anywhere from 1 week to 6 weeks at a time (usually id use sub from 2-3 weeks at a time). I used them to "take a break" and save up my opanas (always buying them from my supplyer 24/7 and saving them when on suboxone). I used the subs to lower my tolerance aswell. So basically i was saving subs when on opana, and saving opana when on subs. nowadays i just "binge" on opana and do 1 40mg opanaER in about 2-3 days at a time, and take 1-3 weeks breaks totally sober.

I use a schedule of stopping completely for 4 or 5 days two seperate times a month.

I assess the WD's I feel and my overall attitude each time before I use again.

Again, I am speaking strictly on opiates and Benzo's.

What (If at all) is your plan of action or way of maintaining control?

Right, so you are abusing opiates/benzo's, stop taking them for 4-5 days a month (more like counting down the days until your next refill) to assess your withdrawal symptoms. This is so fucking idiotic, you are obviously so fucked up you can't even see the flaws in your ways.

I pick up my Diazepam, Codeine, Tramadol and Ritalin every day at the local pharmacy except for Fridays when I get 3 days worth. Daily pickups keeps my use under control, otherwise I would binge until my meds are gone. I made this decision together with my GP (read: was forced) because I had a pretty hefty Ritalin addiction at one time, say using 250 mg insufflated daily when I got 50 mg prescribed. Kicking the Ritalin was both physically and psychologically very hard since I fiended that stuff like someone would fiend coke. I took me 8 days of pure hell (restless leg syndrome, sweats, painful muscles and bones etc. I was "kicking the habit" really).

How the fuck is Ritalin physically addicting? Sleep/eating food and being apathetic/bored/zombified until your body recovers from sleep deprivation isn't physical addiction!!! 8 days of pure hell...fucking pathetic.

Fast forward 2 months later and I got my prescription for Ritalin back for my ADHD and got a prescription for Diazepam to help me with stopping a 5 year Cannabis habit. I also got prescribed Tramadol and Codeine for my chronic back pain. Needless to say I got hooked on Diazepam even though I tried my best to avoid it, I would take breaks for a few days every week until I got withdrawal symptoms, then I knew that I was hooked without even knowing it. I get 30 mg of Diazepam daily and I have to take at least 20 mg every day so I won't get sick, so when it's weekend I give my Saturday and Sunday doses of Diazepam and Codeine to my mom so I won't slip up...

Even after it was revealed that you were abusing your Ritalin stash for your so called "ADHD"
Okay, so now you say that you have been prescribed 30mg Valium daily for 'a 5 year cannabis habit'? What the fuck is wrong with you or your doctor? You replaced smoking weed for a synthetic, physically addictive and severe withdrawal syndrome inducing pharmaceutical? Where's the logic?

I still abuse the Ritalin on weekends because I don't drink much or do any other drugs besides psychedelics and prescription pain meds. But I have almost no withdrawals since I don't take them on Saturday & Sunday which seems to work, the cravings are still there though.

Basically I have six addictions now: Ritalin, Diazepam, Codeine, Tramadol, Nicotine and Caffeine. Currently I have 10x100 mg Tramadol ER, 10x100 mg Tramadol SR, 10x50 mg Tramadol IR, 18x10 mg Ritalin, 12x20 mg Codeine and 30x5 mg Diazepam in front of me. I got the Tramadol from a good friend and I bought 2 strips of Diazepam off the street, I might even have found a connection for Alprazolam and Clonazepam so I might get some in case I run out of Diazepam, stupid I know but that's all what is available on the streets, I can't even get simple MDMA or LSD, only loads of crack here which I won't touch. My life gets more complicated every day it seems...

Fuckit, it's your life dude.

Honestly, theres a reason why im not in control of my prescriptions. I can't control myself. And lol @ "Binge artist's" post.

I don't know TBH, I thought I could stop taking them after a few weeks but my psych keeps writing new scripts for me and I made the mistake to underestimate the benzos. I didn't knew at that time how benzo w/d would be, now I know though :\

Looking back at it I know how stupid I was, I never asked for benzos though but for some reason he prescribed them to me. I guess he had his reasons but I never asked since they helped me to get off my 5 year daily smoking habit.

BTW posting on a forum while intoxicated isn't a good idea I know now ;)

Peace o/

how any doctor would want a patient to trade in a "cannabis addiction" for a benzo addiction has gotta be insane, jesus christ

I disagree. I think if you use them as directed for that time period you can become dependant on them, but not necessarily addicted.

Can somebody explain the difference between addicted and dependent? Don't they both end the same way? Horrible w/d? Word play to rationalize? Just curious. And for all that are saying just take it as prescribed, come on, does it make you feel better to tell somebody else what you should do? More rationalizing IMO. Maybe you should ask your doctor if your prescription is the max that you should be taking and if not tell him you need more so you dont constantly bet yourself up over it? I'm no expert on bezos and maybe you are at max, but everyone is different. Not trying to harp or put people down, but just curious. I suppose you could say, if you blew thru all of them after you were prescribed more, your addicted. If you made it the whole month you are dependent? lol Some people need more.

Im sorry but I do not understand anything you just wrote other than not liking the last few seasons I wrote ;)

EDIT: ANd have you tried my neew show Curb Your Enthusiasm? It's on HBO. Give it a look. Hopefully you will like me better than George Stanza

um ya whay is he talking about?

I need the gaps, with prescription benzos, sleepers, or opiates, because, I think, after two or three days of taking the same dose, the effects go off in some way, and upping the dose isn't quite the same.
The breaks, sometimes a week, sometimes a fortnight, keep it all nice and fresh.

I have also had a speed addiction which caused me stress, and my pot useage seemed to spiral out of control, which was scary.
Not that I believe fear is a deterrent, but after having a brush with speed addiction, I never want to be addicted to anything else again in my life.

All anxiolytic drugs mask symptoms, and daily, so called non addictive drugs like SSRI's etc are harder for me to manage, as they are needed daily, and this has a bad emotional effect on me.
The addictive ones, so long as they are taken as prescribed, are better, because, while they stll mask symptoms, you can feel the effects more or less instantly, and there isn't that daily depenendence. The only dependence is the one the unwary user may fall into.

Well , like one poster said , will power and not trying to use your meds to get high everyday helps alot too .

i pick up prescriptions for oxycontin and percocet and just recently temazepam . and i used to self medicate and ill agree yeah theres nothing like a good nod . however the fact of knowing how im going to feel if i use all my medication is a very good and strong reminder of what abusing my medication will get me .

I dont get spares , i get Exactly enough to last me 1 month . thats 56 40's . 180 percocet and 60 temazepam. I lowered my amount of percocet from 240 to 180 Voluntarily because i had too many extras and people knew i had them which was causing theft issues and consistent nagging phone calls from people thinking im their personal fucking pharmacy . now i keep them in a safe .

I even end up with spares sometimes depending on when i fill my next prescriptions sometimes its from overlap between paycheck periods. they dont even get abused , and their spares .

Having the power not to use your medication to get high isn't that hard and if it is , well do what the other poster does , pick it up every day , or every week , or even biweekly. ive said it once and ill say it again just because your prescribed it , doesnt give you the right to abuse it.

one thing i hate about myself is that i am unable to keep myself in check with drugs of any kind, whether it be scripts or illegal...i downed 90 viks in less than 2 weeks, a half oz of cannabis club weed in a week....its pathetic, so far though i have not gone through any withdrawls from benzos (have taken almost all of them in the past) or vicodin as of yet...keeping my fingers crossed

with pods i usually use one week and then take another week off. sometimes its 2 weeks on one off but its depends. mostly its if my guy picks up his phone or not. currently he has not been so i decided to take the week off at least. W/Ds aren't much at all, mainly 2 days feeling crappy and another 1-3 of being really lethargic.

i have to be at work at 6:30 am and i can't get drugs there or prepare them so if im in withdrawal then im screwed.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

if you have the money, force yourself to put away, 2x as much as it takes you too get high.

This way if you have an important day coming up, take HALF the dose it takes you too get high, so you can just manage and do waht you need to do.

The difference is the mental component driving your use. If you are taking medication as prescribed for pain you can become dependent and have physical withdrawals, but you likely won't have the same psychological attachment as someone addicted to drugs.

That is the theory anyways.
