How do you get your anger out?

I try not to act out of anger, or let it control me. Most of the things I do when I get pissed off are things I do with my time anyways.

When there is something specific I'm trying to work out, or a certain anger/confusion causing event in my life, I'll go to one of the disgustingly large local golf courses in the middle of the night and meditate. It's like having a mini forest to yourself. Fuck the tiny 'public parks'.

Hartwell aka Sparkwell? Or are you more of a El Darado type?


When I get angry ill go to the gym or the sauna and then take a drive down to the hills in pv and relax for awhile.
 
I'm not really an angry person, but I still have to deal with the anger of people around me. I try to ignore other's anger unless its someone close to me-then we gotta talk it out. Smoking bud definitely helps.

The last time I got really angry is when my immature cousin was here being a spoiled little brat. After my failing attempt to talk and deal with her as an adult, I cried. Thats really how I deal with any extreme emotion-I cry.
 
A stranger or an inanimate object usually bears the brunt of my anger.

I had typed up a reply to this last week in which I was saying how I always suppress my anger. But I didn't make that post because it's not true.

If it's someone not connected to me in any way then I can have a blazing argument with them. I'm not violent, though people seem slow to escalate to violence in a nose to nose with me. Perhaps it's the Irish.

I thrash my room occasionally in a fit of rage. Broken glass, drawers, electrical appliances. Childish. I don't do it where there are others to see or hear.
 
I don't consider myself Mr. Maturity by any means, but I've never seen the point in going around breaking shit in fits of anger. Now, I have made a couple bonehead moves drunk as hell, but that's why I don't get like that anymore. That drywall patch is going to need to be placed long after you've gotten over whatever was pissing you off so bad that you decided to go Mike Tyson on the wall.

I still do things when mad that I regret, so in a sense, I'm poking fun at myself. I just try to keep the repair bill$ to a minimum nowadays because I'm always more pissed off when I have to part with the $$$ to fix shit.

Going for a drive, lifting weights, boxing...all ways I try to deal with anger outbursts
 
Drugs and Booze are the main ones but they can end badly.

Otherwise I bottle it up and just give everyone death stares and try to calm myself down and if i can't calm myself i tend to yell and scream and start throwing and punching things (I'm a carpenter so i can fix most of the stuff i break :P) or i just jump in my car and drive, not to anywhere in particular but for some reason it's always helped especially when my big old rumbling v8 ute is on the road, getting out of town to the empty roads and driving like an absolute nutcase at scarily dumb speeds and ripping shreds through my tyres just seems to level me out. Does cost me a bit in engine repairs and tyres though.
 
On a good day I listen to loud, aggressive music and seethe or yell along until my rage subsides.

On a bad day, well... I'm currently getting towards the end of having 5 weeks off work because I mangled my hand punching a fence 3 times. 2 fractured metacarpals later. It came close to having to be operated on and apparently if I go punching things any more it will have to be operated on next time.

When I feel angry it's very hard to get myself out of that head space healthily. I can seethe for days. I feel red poison and venomous thoughts.

Haha looking back I've already posted in this thread years ago. Good to see I'm still the same fuck up I was then...

When I was in my teens I used to get incredibly pissed off after piano lessons - paying someone to moan about my lack of practice in the past week is never fun. I would normally turn up my stereo and play anything with lyrics that could be manipulated as 'women-hating'.

Whenever I've gotten pissed off with a friend (rare), I always seem to choose the worst possible time to let them know about it.

One time I anger-texted a friend who hadn't replied to any emails/txts/messages for several days and it turned out he'd just broken up with a long-term girlfriend.

Another time, after several drinks too many I was being an asshole to a friend whose father had just been diagnosed with terminal cancer (my problem was that his mood/lack of enthusiasm was bringing everyone around us down) - he hadn't mentioned his dad's condition at the time.

Nowadays I try and save it for the cavity walls and/or doors - there is a shortlived sense of satisfaction when you throw a computer chair across the wall and get a few holes in exchange.
 
Smoke a cigarette. I'm usually chilled out by the end of it.

Not much sets me off though. People get too worked up over stupid shit, when it could be a lot worse.
 
I go into an enclosed area and scream my head off. If one isn't available, I'll drown my screams in a pillow, or just scream out in the open and hope the neighbors don't think I'm being murdered or something.

i don't get pissed off as often as i used to. running has been my solution for lots of things. loud music is great if i happen to get pissed while driving.
i like livin out in the woods cuz i can let off a wicked string of obsenities at full volume and nobody hears.
when i was a little kid mommy dearest used to tell me to stuff it in my stomach n knock it off. no surprise i had an ulcer at 12years old.

Running outside at flat out for as long as I can. (not in a gym because those nosey/plastic people make me soo agitated... omg it kills me.( lol im the worst. I know.) So thats not the goal! Running outside, and Eminem in my ears. Angry Eminem songs- I have an angry playlist if your willing to give my method a try msg me and Ill send you the songs :) . Oh, dark sunglasses and possibly a baseball hat so no one can look at me because that would annoy me too.

I cry too with extreme emotions. Especially when I'm extremely angry. I've never worked it out, and I don't really know anyone else who does the same thing. I always feel better after a good cry.

Nah but seriously, for a while went through a period where I was drinking heavily and I was very angry. My way to vent was to get in fights... I ended up getting my ass handed to me often but as time went on I became more skilled at beating the shit out of people and it felt great. I was able to get out all my hatred and anger. I stopped doing that though because I went from being very angry to being very sad and depressed.
