How do you get the same effect from morphine sulphate ER as Oxycodone 15mg

I have taken Oxycodone for a couple of years prescribed by my pain manegement Dr. He recently prescribed 15mg morphine sulphate ER twice daily as well as the oxy. I took my first dose and I literally felt nothing. No added pain relief, no euphoria, nothing. I often run short on the oxy before it is time for my next fill and would like to know if anyone has experimented with the morphine sulphate ER and found out how to take it to get the same effect. Can it be crushed or chewed? How much of that powder should be taken? It would be nice to use them to carry me when I run short. The manufacturer of these is Rhodes. Thanks in advance for the replies :)
 
I forgot to add that when I called the Dr and told him it had no effect, he told me to take 2 15mgs at a time 2 times daily. I havent tried that yet. I would prefer to crush them and use them as a shorter acting med if that is possible. Any help would be greatly appriciated.
 
Morphine sucks. The only time you feel the right benefits off morphine is in the hospital when they have IV ampules. I am in NO WAY suggesting you IV anything. But trying to get an opiate to act as another opiate doesn't work. Different opiates have different strengths. That's the way the cookie crumbles.
 
If I crush a 15 mg of MS er would it be 15mg or would it be more? I have no clue how this stuff works. Im just trying to find a dose that I can live with. So if I crush 1 pill and it has no effect, I could add another half a pill worth of powder every half an hour until I find a comfortable dose?
 
15mg in Morphine tablet form is equal to 15mg of Hydrocodone.......try cutting half your Oxycodone & mixing it with 15mg of Morphine...

When I take 7.5mg's of Morphine with 5mg's of Hydrocodone, the pain relief is there......

As everyone else stated, Morphine in tablet form isn't that good for pain relief unless you take more which you should take it as your doctor suggests.
 
So does the fact that its slow release change anything? When I take half, should I crush that half? Im no sure what the release mechanism is in the ER tabs vs the IR tabs. Also the Dr did change my script to 30 mgs.

I chew all my meds for quicker release, h'ever you do give up some length of time they are suppose to last. Lutopia
 
Thank you. Any Idea how much Morphine Sulphate slow release I need to chew to equal 20mg oxycodone instant release potency?
