how do you extract the opium from poppy seeds?

Sorry, we do not allow any source discussion (where to find 'em). Going to edit that out; you're welcome to ask how to prep seeds though.

In opium poppies, the opium is produced in the wall of the pods. This latex is meant to protect the plant if they are injured. The way they obtain seeds is by crushing them all then separating the seeds from the rest and in doing so this gets opium latex on the outside of the seeds. Since opiate alkaloids are strongly water soluble, all you have to do is shake the seeds around in water (or another liquid) and you'll 'extract' the opiates. There are no opiates IN the seeds so you shouldn't need to do anything beyond what is outlined above.

Please do be careful however because the content can vary wildly and can produce unexpectedly strong effects. Some companies also add products to their seeds to deter people from abusing them.

What was said before, poppy seeds do not contain opium they just get some of the latex on them during processing. Because of this it generally takes a whole boatload of seeds to get a decent amount of opium.

It's not a good idea, people do die this way. You have no way to gauge how much opium you're ingesting. One batch of seeds could contain no opium, another could kill you.

n3wt is right, though I only know of one confirmed case of poppy seed tea death. A better, safer, source is pods, but PLEASE, for the love of all that is good, don't mess with them. The opiate train runs down a shit hill to nowhere good.

If you MUST though, the pods are safer, IMHO, because they don't vary as much, though they DO vary quite a bit. Always start low and work your way up to an enjoyable, safe dose. Also, with pods and seeds, it takes at least an hour to feel effects, and 2-3 to peak, or more if eat a meal before ingesting. So don't think "oh damn it's been 45 min and I barely feel anything" and go and take 3 times what you already took. Be patient. Better to be patient than to get sick and become a patient. Believe me.

I've got a shit ton of experience with this so ask or PM me if you want, but you'll have to forgive my repeated warnings.

All best,
pnm
