How do people stay up over 36 hours on amphetamines?

I'm bored of these posts where then OP never responds, surely it should be added as an infraction, purely on the basis is pisses me off

No, I am afraid it doesn't quite work that way. Amphetamines stimulate everyone. The reason they can be effective in the treatment of the symptoms of "ADHD" is because they promote concentration, attention, reward for succeeding etc. I am not going to say they don't calm you down, because I can very much believe that, but they are still stimulants, not any sort of tranquilizer for anyone. As to why you can't achieve long periods without sleep using amphetamines, I would guess it is because you have been using amphetamines for your "ADHD" on a daily basis (or even less frequently) for some time now, and you have quite the tolerance, such tolerance that warding off sleep with a normal dose of amphetamines may not be possible.

This. Amphetamines are not tranquilisers and your tolerance could well be the reason - that would be my bet I think. It could be a range of other reasons however - everyone reacts differently to drugs; natural tolerance, aquired tolerance, individual chemistry, how much sleep you got the night/week before, how healthy you are, your desire to stay awake, set and setting all play a part.

This thread is going to descend into a series of "this one time I stayed up for 6 days" or "I fall asleep after 12 hours" which serves no HR and isn't what BDD is about, so am going to close it. There are other places on BL for sharing your stories I am sure :) If anyone has any queries shoot me a pm.

Hahahaha. I forgot to close it and dammit atm I can't infract you for saying "using RED TEXT"... in black text. Not even in a post. We mods like to have our red ink so we can correct people like teachers, but this doesn't extend to locations. Try harder... :D
