Opioids How do oxycodone and hydrocodone compare and contrast?

Well I find oxycodone slightly more potent than hydro...maybe 1.5 times stronger.

I also find oxy more....I guess euphoric but also more noddy.
I couldn't catch a nod on hydrocodone to save my life but about 40mg of oxy and ill probably be nodding.

Other than that idk.
Hydrocodone is just codeine with an extra hydrogen molecule and it gets turned into hydromorphone in the liver. It's more of a prodrug like codeine, in that a lot of It's effecta are dependent upon metabolic activation.

Oxycodone is codeine with an extra oxygen molecule and I beleive it is not only active by itself, but gets metabolised into oxymorphone which is one of the strongest opioids commonly used.

I'd love to try some oxymorphone..

oxycodone is like 3x more potent.... pretty sure. It's 2-3x morphine orally and I think that is roughly equal to hydrocodone's potency mg for mg.

hydrocodone most seem to agree is more sedating, however I think we all can agree that oxycodone is far more potent in regards to it's ability to induce a nod. It's stimulating at lower to moderately high doses but it's all based on many many many factors that we can't speculate on, but to be blunt, high dose oxycodone is way stronger, more dangerous, and tends to be the DOC of more long-term opioid abusers and is a decent breakthrough medication for chronic pain, can't say that for hydrocodone...

Anyways, we don't allow these types of comparison threads, check the OD guidelines and perform a search because we have covered this topic many many many times.
